FOR THE PROGRESSIVE HORSEMAN • An unprecedented home library build ing opportunity. Every Horseman should have them on his book shelf. • These Handbooks contain selected lec tures from the Horse Science School and Stud Managers' School sponsored by Agriservices Foundation, the nonprofit Foundation serving agriculture. Eaeh Handbook is different; all are up-to- date, authoritative and informative. Handsome hard-backs, 8 V 2 "xll" size. • ALL LIMITED EDITIONS; WHILE THEY LAST. Each chapter by an eminent HARBER & CHERRY STABLES TOUTS TOP FILLY The word over in Middle Tennes see is that Bob Cherry, genial train er of the Harber & Cherry Stables in Centerville, Tennessee, just may have a colt that can follow in TIGER BAY’S footsteps. He recently an nounced the sale of one-half interest in a two-year-old filly that is doing great. The fact that this is the third time in six weeks that this share in this very fine SUN’S DELIGHT 'get’ has changed hands is most unusual for a show prospect this early in the year. First officially named DELIGHT’S STAR, the filly was bred and raised by A. E. "Rock” McEwen of Duck River, Tenn. She was first bought from McEwen by Clovis Harber and Bob Cherry, owners of Harber & Cherry Stables. The one-half of the filly was first sold to Wilson Brazel- ton, Nashville businessman, who in turn sold his interest to Dan Arnold of Wartrace, a leading Tennessee Walking Horse farrier. This same in terest was sold February 10 to W. CD’ Kilpatrick and Frank Cole, both of Brentwood, Tenn. Kilpatrick, to gether with Harber and Cherry, owns last year’s outstanding National Cel ebration Two-Year-Old Stallion Class Champion, TIGER BAY. The filly’s sire, SUN’S DELIGHT, was the 1963 World’s Grand Champ ion Tennessee Walking Horse. He is owned by Fray Escue of Covington, Kentucky, and stands at the Harlins- dale Farm breeding establishment at Franklin, Tenn. This great stud, re puted to be one of the industry’s most natural Walking Horses and an outstanding sire, was bred and rais ed by A. S. "Audie” Dean of Christi ana, Tenn. Known as ''The Dean of the Walking Horse Breeders,” Mr. Dean considers SUN’S DELIGHT the ultimate result of his forty-odd years as a genetic specialist and breeder of Walking Horses. The dam of this exciting young mare is SUN’S LONE STAR GAL, an outstanding show mare shown very successfully by Joe Wright, well- known Nacogdoches, Tex. horseman. This superb chestnut filly, accord ing to all who have seen her, has all of the requisites of an outstanding show mare. In fact, there are those now who say she is ready for the show ring. Dan Arnold, who should know, stated, "This filly is one of the greatest two-year-olds I have ever seen.” Mr. Cole refused to discuss price. There was great speculation, partic ularly in view of the fact that this same interest has changed hands for the fourth time. Kilpatrick stated, "This filly goes as much like TIGER BAY moved a year ago as is possi ble for a mare. For this reason, we are delighted to own a part of this excellent show prospect.” Cole and Kilpatrick said that, due to the great similarity to TIGER BAY as a two-year-old, they and Harber and Cherry have agreed to officially re-name their filly TIGER LILY. authority; all edited by Dr. M. Ensminger. • There are sections on Feeding; Breeding; Horse Health and Disease; Training; Man agement; Farrier Science; Horsemanship; Selecting and Judging; and Buildings and Equipment. Although some of these sections appear in each Handbook, they are written by several authors from different areas of the country, and, therefore, present a panorama on "how to do it." This makes these books invaluable.
