BIG FOUR WINNER
Carrying home four blues from the Madison Im
perial Horse Show as REGAL GOLD, pictured here with owner Walter Mc-
Duffee up in Amateur Class.
What a glorious way to begin the show season in
the gorgeous new S5 million Dare County Coliseum
in Madison, Wisconsin. It offers facilities second to
none. This is a big show and getting bigger and bet
ter every year. The show committee tries its hardest
and never stops improving things. Don Utz of Lexing
ton, Mo. and Carl Leigh of Victor, N. Y. were the
judges of the saddle and Walking Horses.
Roy Rogers and Dale Evans were the special added
attraction, and everyone enjoyed them, in spite of the
fact that he borrowed an Arabian to ride instead of a
Walking Horse.
The Walking Horse classes were good sized, with
quality as well as quantity, and horses from five dif
ferent states. Making a real sweep of the show was
the good-striding, head-shaking REGAL GOLD, with
owner Walter McDuffee aboard in the Amateur, Open
and Stake, and niece Ruth Ann McDuffee taking the
blue in the Ladies. Art Titus of Batavia, 111. is the
capable trainer for this top gelding.
A very pretty, good-going black mare by the name
of WELL’S DARK VELVET won the Junior Class,
shown by Donovan Heltibridle for owner James Mil
ler of Boone, Iowa. Reserve in this class was owner-
rider Robert Bull on his MERRY SAMMEYE KAYE,
with third to SUN’S DREAM GIRL, Jim Baum up for
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Baum’s River Tree Farm. Fourth
was SHADOW’S RHYTHM BOY, George McGUvra,
