MIDNIGHT SDN GLO 0

It has been said that a breeding stallion has only four things to sell and it is rare indeed when all four are found in one horse . Some factors outweigh others , however , and it is with this in mind that we introduce MIDNIGHT SUN GLO O . Of the several World Grand Champions now standing at stud only a few have produced colts of the caliber of those sired by this horse . A sterling example of his get is MR . GLO , the 1967 Reserve Grand Champion of the World . We are not prone to hang our hat on this one horse , however , as he has sired many other fine colts that have made a name for themselves in the show ring . The breeding record of this horse is interesting in that he has been promoted relatively little in his career and after appearing only once ( in 1965 ) in the VOICE Stallion Directory he created such a following that Mr . Elmore Brock , his former owner , stated that " we had about all the business we could handle .” SUN-GLO is solid black and 16 hands , and has sired some outstanding
natural-gaited Walking Horses in the last five years . The present Reserve World ’ s Grand Champion and Southern Stake Champion MR . GLO is one ; DEEP VELVET , the Chandlers ’ fine mare , is another , having won over fifty blues in her four years of showing . We have visited and looked at over 100 of his colts and his fantastic ability to propagate his own characteristics is always evident ; beautiful heads and necks with outstanding shoulders and rear quarters . His sire of course , is world famous , but a word about his dam ’ s side may be of interest . Out of the HALL ALLEN mare , G-NILA ’ S BONNIE , it is worthy to note that her dam , MERRIE G-NILA ( TSI-NILA ) ALLEN , a MERRY BOY mare of some note , was bred once to MERRY GO BOY and produced the famous GO BOY ’ S ACE ; and twice to MIDNIGHT SUN , producing two fillies . The older one , now 16 years of age , sold at the Murray Farm Sale in 1967 for $ 3,800.00 - quite a price for a mare her age . This fine stallion » MIDNIGHT SUN GLO O , was recently purchased from Elmore Brock and Manuel Officer , of Sparta , Tennessee , by Dr . Ellis and three other men . Now forming a partnership on the horse are Dr . J . S . Ellis , Dr . Bill Wright , Mr . H . C . Chapman and Mr . Larry Gribble .
MIDNIGHT SUN GLO O was moved to Stallion Stables in November and already a great deal of interest has been shown in his booking for 1968 .

JOHNNY MIDNIGHT 1965 Reserve Grand Champion 1966 World Champion Stallion

Whenever the name of JOHNNY MIDNIGHT comes up there is bound to be some discussion . This wellknown stallion has been the subject of considerable conversation ever since Neal " Shorty ” Branscum tied third with him in the Age Stallion Class at the 1964 Celebration . Neal did a great job with him , and showed him in a manner that set up a raft of speculation regarding his " stake-horse ” potential . Being a full brother of the 1963 World Grand Champion didn ’ t hurt him at all , and the fact that he was bigger than his illustrious brother and was also black added even more impetus to his prospects . Shortly after the Celebration in 1964 , JOHNNY MIDNIGHT was purchased from the man who raised him , Mr . A . S . Dean , and was placed with Mr . Sam Paschal to be trained for the 1965 season . Sam did very well with him during the year and after tying third in the Age Stallion Class he came back to win the Reserve title in the big stake that year . After another year of training , Sam Paschal and JOHNNY MIDNIGHT made another try in 1966 , but after winning the World Champion Stallion Class he faded in the big stake to tie fifth .
His owners , Mr . Thomas Eaton and Larry Gribble , dissolved their partnership , which reportedly involved over fifty thousand dollars , in 1966 and at present Larry and his brother Clinton Gribble own the popular black stallion .
The season just past has also been hectic for this proverbial contender , as he was shown with great success by Mack Motes out of the Vic Thompson Stables . Mack won a truckload of blue ribbons with him , and after the Celebration he was placed in training with Elmore Brock , who also won several top shows with him . The next chapter in the life of JOHNNY MID NIGHT will be written later . He was recently moved to Stallion Stables to stand the 1968 season as a breeding stallion . Needless to say , the demand for his services is bound to be considerable . He has the " blood of champions ” in his veins . He also has the size and the color that are currently in demand . By MIDNIGHT SUN out of the great producing mare WILSON SNIP ’ S CHANCE , this fine stallion should have a successful season at stud .
His ability to reproduce his many fine qualities is now apparent , as he has several top colts on the ground at present . One in particular , JOHNNY JUN IOR , came on strong last year as a two-year-old and won several top shows during the season . He had some strong competition in his own stable in this class , however , as he was being trained by Elmore Brock . The most outstanding qualities of a JOHNNY aMIDNIGHT colt should be natural ability , as this is what this line of breeding is known for . JOHNNY MIDNIGHT . . . popular favorite with Walking Horse lovers everywhere , now enters the ranks of America ’ s top stallions . The name of " Johnny ” should appear frequently on registration papers on many a top colt in the future .
In combining the background and current status of these three fine stallions and relating them to Stallion Stables , it must be brought to mind that they join the ranks of many other top breeding horses that have been featured by this fine facility . Such horses as MIDNIGHT MACK K , SUN DUST , GO BOY ’ S INVASION and GORDON ’ S MERRY BOY have attracted the fancy of major breeders everywhere and it was here at Stallion Stables that they reached their peak of popularity . This large farm , located just eight miles north of Shelbyville , offers over a hundred acres of planned pasture that is fenced and crossfenced for maximum benefit . Mr . Vic Thompson , who has owned this property for over five years , maintains a personal observation of every- facet of the operation . He and Mr . Larry Gribble , general manager of the breeding operation , form an experienced and conscientious team .
