I outline and association by-laws. The second meeting was held Saturday morning at which time active mem bers were permitted to sign the char ter and pay initial membership dues. Active membership is restricted to individuals who make a substantial part of their income from the train ing of Walking Horses. This includes individuals who train and show hor ses under halter or under saddle. Associate memberships will be taken at a later date but these will be non voting members whose participation will be primarily due to their inter est in helping the Association. A committee was formed to outline proposed rules for the showing of Tennessee Walking Horses. These rules differed somewhat from those now in effect and were to be present ed to the Celebration, Inc. for their approval as well as to the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ Associa tion before being presented to the American Horse Show Association (See Editor's Note at end of article). Proposed rule changes were present ed to the group and were discussed at length with approval being given by the majority. Another meeting has been sched uled for March 15 and 16 at the Holiday Inn in Shelbyville, Tennes see. Anyone wishing information re garding this Association should con tact Mr. Yic Thompson, Route 2, Shelbyville, Tennessee. EDITOR’S NOTE. A committee of three members of the new Walking Horse Trainers’ Association, Inc. re cently met with officials of the Amer ican Horse Show Association in New York to discuss the prospective rule changes for Tennessee Walking Hor ses. It is our understanding that the rules were well received and positive steps will be taken for these changes in 1969. The current rule book for the association has already been printed. Those attending the meet ing were Wallace Brandon, David Welsh and Yic Thompson. February, 1968 21
