Minnesota Walking Horse Association
The first annual election and dinner meeting of this
Association was held November 1 in St. Paul. There
was a turnout of 53 persons with 30 voting members
present. 1968 officers were all re-elected for a second
term in 1969 as follows: President - Harold Jessen,
Osseo: Vice President - Robert Bathke, Osseo; and
Secretary-Treasurer - Carlene Holt, Stillwater. Board
members elected to a three-year term were Donald
Swisher, Stillwater, and Jim Shane, Rosemount. The
MWHA has plans for an All-Walking Horse Show
sometime in 1969 - more news on this later.

Prescott, Wise.; Mrs. Clarence Bloomquist, Waverly;
Sam Mack, Red Wing; Robert R. Graham, Big Lake;

lowski, St. Paul.

Debbie and Terry Larson both added laurels to the
ribbon collection of Dellarson Studios, St. Paul, at the
recent Ramsey County Fair Horse Show. Debbie show
ed her black gelding, MIDNIGHT C BIG JOHN, in
the open class to place fifth; then came back the next
day on QUEEN OF THE ROAD to carry home the
trophy in the Amateur Walking Horse Class. This is
Terry’s first season in the show ring and she’s doing
a mighty fine job. We look forward to seeing her show
in the Walking Horse classes very soon.
All of us at Woodlane Farm were very pleased with
the showring debut of our new black stallion, GO
BOY’S WALKAWAY.

1968 Tri-State Awards
The Tri-State Horsemen’s Association held its an
nual award dinner on October 26 in Minneapolis. Over
400 people attended the meeting. This year, for the
first time, Tri-State offered three championship classes
for Tennessee Walking Horses. The 1968 winners are
as follows:
OPEN WALKING HORSES: (1) SHADOW’S ROYAL
HEIR, Robert Bathke, Osseo; (2) SUNLIGHT SUL
TAN, Carlene Holt, Stillwater.
AMATEUR WALKING HORSES: (1) SUNLIGHT

JUNIOR WALKING HORSES: (1) HOW LOVELY’S
SUN, Harold Jessen, Osseo; (2) JUPITER’S DEBU

NEWS FROM HERE AND THERE:
LOVELY MIDNIGHT, Beautiful black show mare
owned by Mrs. Ada Dickey of Worthington, Minnesota,
died of colic at the age of 18 years this fall. The mare
was the mother of a three-week-old stud colt sired by
RODGERS PERFECTION. LOVELY MIDNIGHT was
a lovely mare and 1 believe she won almost 200 blue
ribbons during his showring career in multistate com
petition. LOVELY MIDNIGHT now takes her place in
Tennessee Walking Horse history in the greatest
tradition of a truly magnificent representative of the
breed.
The Minnesota Walking Horse Association is pleased
to announce that it has reached the count of 50 paid
members for 1968. Begun this spring, this organiza
tion has grown in number and enthusiasm. A special
"Tennessee Walking Horse Clinic” and halter class
show' was held very' successfully in June, 1968 and
plans are now under w'ay for an all-Walking Horse
