NEIL ROBINSON STABLES
Over near Memphis , trainer Neil Robinson is heading toward Shelbyviile with some good stock . DE­ LIGHT ’ S DARK SHADOW , a fine black two-year-old stallion , heads the list , closely followed by GO BOY ’ S PEACOCK , a three-year-old black mare . She is owned by Dr . H . G . Barker of Humboldt . SHAKER ’ S BLUE SON is a blue roan gelding that pleases owner R . E .
Phelon of Trenton , Tenn . MISTER TERRIFIC , also owned by Dr . Barker , is a four-year-old sorrel stallion that has won several top shows this season . THE UNCHAINED MELODY is singing a good song for Mrs . Barry Saunders , who rides this mare in Ladies ’ classes .
Neil also plans to show CRUSADER ’ S IMAGE for Mrs . O . J . Gordy of Forrest City , Arkansas in the three-year-old class . SUN DUST REBEL MAID is a
top mare owned by Sharon Terry . This mare has a lot of potential that Neil has been able to bring out .
Another fine two-year-old in the barn is REPLICA ’ S ACE OF SPADES , owned by Dale and Lowe McDaniel
of Millington , Tennessee . Neil also has a two-year-old filly owned by Mrs . Marie Jeffcoat that will be shown in the Futurity .
DOUGLAS WOLAVER STABLES
Always in the running , Doug Wolaver will again be going strong at the Celebration with a good string of horses . In Amateur classes he will have GO BOY ’ S LADY ANN , a champion mare owned and ridden by Mrs . Lyle ( Karen ) Cashion , and GO BOY ’ S BLACK BARON , owned and ridden by Jan Wright of Nacogdoches , Texas . The two-year-old class is headed by GO BOY ’ S LADIES MAN , a black stud owned by Captain E . A . Self , and SHAKER ’ S DEBUTANTE , a fine filly owned by J . H . Lamar . Doug will also show
HANDSHAKER ’ S LADY KIM in the three-year-old mare class for Cashion Farms and his three-year-old stud will be HANDSHAKER ’ S DELIGHT , owned by Clyde Frye of Missouri . Aged horses will be in the spotlight somewhat as he hits the ring on SHAKER ’ S MERRY ALLEN in the Aged Mare Class and WARLOCK in the Aged Stallion and Championship Stake Classes .
BRIDLEWOOD STABLES
Just fifteen miles north of Birmingham , Alabama at Morris , Wayne Luna is trying to figure out a way to do everything that is in his plans . Now in his second year at this operation , Wayne is overwhelmed by the
response for his services . At present , Wayne has twenty horses in training .
He has some good two-year-olds . MACK ’ S GYPSY MAN , owned by R . L . Sandlin of Warrior , has had a

GO BOY colt that is coming along nicely .
CAVETT ’ S BLACK BEAUTY , a three-year-old mare owned by E . D . Cavett of Birmingham , has been causing a lot of talk this season . Wayne has hopes for her at the Celebration this year .
Mrs . J . W . Miller also has a four-year-old by GO BOY that is coming along nicely . Mr . and Mrs . G . L . Barger of Morris have a four-year-old gelding known as ALLEY CAT that has tied very well this year in open and lady amateur classes . He is shown by Mrs . Gail Chambers in amateur classes and by Wayne in open classes . Wayne and Gail both feel that he can do well at the Celebration .
MIDNIGHT JET STAR , an aged stallion recently purchased by Ernie Hambric of Jasper , Alabama , has had a very successful season so far this year . Doug Goodlett of Cullman has an aged stud in training with Wayne that has been successful this year . Wayne has several horses for sale and a very nice stud by MERRY GO BOY and out of a GIOVANNI mare that he is standing . Wayne invites everyone to stop by to see him when in his area .
STEPPIN ’ HI STABLES
Wyte Tillman , owner of Tillman Motors of Shelby , North Carolina , keeps a very nice string of horses in
trainin at Steppin ’ Hi Stables . Leading the way is PERFECTION ’ S SUN MAID . She is a two-year-old bay filly that can beat them all . Mr . Tillman also has a nice five-year-old stallion , JEWEL ’ S BLACK JEWEL , for stake competition . Another of his horses is a seven-year-old gelding shown in amateur and ladies classes .
MIDNIGHT JOE , owned by Mr . and Mrs . Cleveland Abee , leads the way in stake competition this year . A three-year-old mare owned by Mr . and Mrs . Johnny
Abee is improving with every show . A black amateur mare owned by Mr . and Mrs . Ray Grinstaff of Hildebran has been doing very well .
GO BOY BLUE is a five-year-old black stallion owned by Dr . John Shell of Valdese . Due to several injuries this horse has only been shown three times . Ho . w as an aged horse he is sound as can be with a
big lick . He is to be held back until next year because of the injuries during his two- and three-yearold career .
The training farm is owned by J . D . Brinkley , Jr . of Valdese . He has two selected brood mares and two fine MACK K ’ S HANDSHAKER yearling studs of which he is very proud .
JOE HACKNEY STABLES
Regardless of how many horses a man has , he usually has one or two ( if he is lucky ) of which he is particularly proud . We talked to Joe Hackney of Nashville recently and he told us about his fine Junior
Mare by SUN ’ S ROCKET GO BOY . They have shown this mare consistently this season and have done extremely well with her in the toughest competition . She
