der contract to the J. C. Penney Company and the Sea Lure Swim Wear Company, for which she travels
extensively.
While in California in her capacity as Miss U. S. A., the beautiful lass was prompted to spend some time with Mr. and Mrs. Walker at their Fairway Walking Horse Stables and to spend a fine afternoon in the saddle. Needless to say, they enjoyed the event! " Bill Verd” says that she sits the saddle well and looks almost as pretty in the saddle of a Tennessee Walker as she does in a swimsuit; however, her 35-23-35 measurements are not displayed as advantageously.
Still active in the Walking Horse business, Mr. Walker has a small breeding operation going at his own stable in Concord, California and has several fine show horses in training. He still has two horses in training with Joe Webb, Searcy, Arkansas: a five-yearold stallion and a Junior stallion. He moved two horses to Diana and Jim Babb and recently made a trip to Chattanooga to see his stock. A fine mare named PERFECTION’ S MODEL was shown by Jim Babb in Florida to tie third and fifth on her first time out. He also has a two-year-old black stallion named STAR OF ST. MIDNIGHT that has just been put in training at Battleground Stables. Diana says he is responding well and should make a good horse.
Mr. Walker also has several horses in training with J. D. Landers in Sacramento, California. J. D. has done well with his stock on the West Coast for the past few years.
