OWNER-AMATEUR WALKING STALLIONS, ANY AGE
The most talked-about team of the year did not let the crowd down as Candace Williams and GO BOY’ S ROYAL HEIR put on a magnificent show to thrill the crowd and sweep the blue ribbon. It is obvious that Candace has spent many long hours in the saddle and it is equally obvious that it has paid off handsomely. GALA GO BOY and Jacquie Kroll showed the crowd of close to 11,000 plenty of walking ability in capturing the red ribbon. MOON GLOW JR., last year’ s champion, tied third but did not give his best performance. Burt Daugette will no doubt come back in the championship class stronger than ever as ribbons colored blue are her favorites.

OWNER-AMATEUR LADY RIDERS ON WALKING HORSES, CHAMPIONSHIP STAKE This class was filled to the brim with great horses and some of the best exhibitions of riding ability were seen here. When the dust had settled, the judges’ choice on all three cards was THE NEW LOOK and Shirley Schliecher. Shirley had the horse at peak form and won the class with maximum crowd support. GO BOY’ S LADY ANN and Karen Cashion were strong second choices as they put on a tremendous exhibition also. Laura Brandon, a very talented and competitive rider, guided MINT JULEP to the yellow ribbon. The three top horses in this chass have worlds of ability and will no doubt continue to dominate their classes in the future.
