“Walk On, Minnesota!” by Miss Carlene Holt Woodlane Farm R.R. 5, Stillwater, Minnesota Horsein’ Around by Cathy Ellis Humboldt, Tennessee If you notice the change in my address from Hum boldt, Tennessee, this is due to my family’s moving to Meridian, Mississippi where my father, M. D. Ellis, was elected Executive Vice President of the First National Bank in Meridian. I am going to miss some of my good friends in West Tennessee and Kentucky, like Jimmy Waddell, Ted Baier, Tom Banks, Dr. Kuhl- man and his daughter Susie, Dr. Barker, Neil Robin son, Coon Jones, Dickie Wood, Chalmus Davenport, and Dee Bufford. I understand that Dee will be show ing a new horse next year and I certainly wish her a lot of success. I hope to see some of them next sum mer at the shows. I am very lucky to have my horse, JET, in training here in Meridian at the Mai Graham Stables with Baine Lee as trainer, and I will be show ing out of this stable next year. Baine is working about ten horses at present, and some of the out standing ones are: a two-vear-old mare, PHIL’S LIT TLE ANGEL, owned by Mr. Graham; a three-year-old called PHIL’S PRINCE PHILLIP, ridden by Art Har well and owned by Art’s Record Mart. Mrs. Jewel Graham shows her outstanding Reserve World Cham pion Gelding, MAYFLOWER MOVER. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Edwards have their horse, CLOWN’S DOING DOLL, in training here. Another outstanding mare, MOON MIST, is owned and shown by Beth Gaillard. JET PARADES MIDNIGHT, owned by Mr. Graham, was shown last year as a three-year-old and is quite an outstanding horse. Baine has won many blue rib bons and is looking for an even better season next year. They have many fine horses in this area and some very fine trainers, such as Jack Moorman at Forest, Miss., Jimmy Holloway at West, Miss., and Ronnie Spears at West Point, Miss. Our 1967 tri-state show season ended with the al ways great LaCrosse Riding Club Show in LaCrosse, Wisconsin on September 16 and 17. The weather was beautiful and the Walking Horse classes were well filled. Results of this show are printed elsewhere in this issue. The Minnesota Tennessee Walking Horse Associ ation is now in its initial stages, and has had two general meetings. The first meeting was held at Kan- tell Farm in Hamel, Minnesota, and the second meet ing was hosted by Hank-Mur Farm of Rosemount, Minnesota. This organization is being formed by per sons who are interested in Tennessee Walking Horses - whether they exhibit, ride for pleasure, or simply admire them. Temporary officers appointed were: Mr. George Stotesbery, Minneapolis, president; Miss The resa Lane, Minneapolis, secretary; and Miss Carlene Holt, Stillwater, treasurer. Anyone interested in learn ing more details about this newly-formed association should contact: Miss Theresa Kay Lane, 5400 Elliott Ave., So., Minneapolis, Minnesota. NOW AVAILABLE!
