Deep South Winner Tops Nation ' s Best in Bid For Championship

The three Deep South Shows which follow the Celebration always stir a lot of enthusiasm and interest in the Walking Horse business, and this year was certainly no exception. One of the primary reasons for the enthusiasm generated by these shows is the fact that down through the years they have seen many recently-crowned World Champions go down to defeat. Also many of the top horses, who because of injury or other reasons were unable to compete in the Celebration, are exhibited in these shows. The notion that these shows are " the places where the champions get beat” is well-imbedded in the minds of many horse enthusiasts, and consequently they throng to Mobile, Baton Rouge or Montgomery to witness the upsets.
But this year we could easily be seeing that trend changed and another one begun. Rather than chamion being beat, there is a good chance that a real champion has been made. GO BOY’ S FLYING CLOUD and Ronnie Spears were outstanding in winning the stallion and stake classes at both Mobile and Baton Rouge, thus labeling themselves as one of the early favorites in the annual battle for the top award in the Tennessee Walking Horse business.
Ronnie and his coal-black stud have come a long way in a short time, but they are not about to quit
4 and rest on their laurels by any stretch of the imagination. They have set the Grand Championship as eir goal and their performance at the Mobile and a on Rouge shows certainly proves their desire to attain this goal. t GbOUD is the property of Mr. and Mrs
