When this enthusiastic Walking Horse family went shopping for a top amateur mare last summer, they wanted one of the best. They found this in MISS TREVA. She is trained to perfection by Charles Mullins and is now“ just right.” So watch for this sensational head-shaking mare and her talented lady rider because once you see this mare, you’ ll love her.
While at the Quentin School Mr. Mullins sold two horses to Mr. Louis U. Shinnamon, Cumberland, Md. He now proudly owns the Sterner mare, SWEET SUE and Mr. C. W. Crists’ famous black stallion, I. GOT TO GO BOY. Mr. Shinnamon and his son plan to show these horses themselves this summer. A beautiful four-year-old black mare and a promising two-year-old were placed in training with Mr. Mullins. This fine colt is already under saddle and has a big start on most two-year-olds.
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Personius, Ithaca, N. Y., visited the barn and bought two fine horses. Mrs. Personuis will show DE GO BOY, a black gelding with a great running walk, while her husband will show a big-going black stallion, GO BOY’ S TIME’ S SQUARE, previously owned by Mr. Shinnamon. They also own the fine stallion, SOUVENIR’ S JET, who has sired many good colts. One of his colts, JET’ S WILSON JEWEL, has been placed in training and this roan has a back end that just won’ t quit. He will hit the show ring in no time.
Mr. J. S. Beahan, Clearfield, Pa., has a handsome sorrel GO BOY gelding who is doing three good gaits. Named MERRY BOY’ S KING BEE II, this horse will really catch your eye. Mr. Beahan plans to show his horse himself this summer in amateur classes.
Nonie Hawkins is busy showing a beautiful palomino gelding, ARTHUR J’ S CHANCE for Mr. Arthur Hendrickson and the Cumberland Valley Stables. This gelding has a big heart and an equally big and bold way of going and can really fly in the running walk. With Nonie Hawkins in the saddle they make a lovely pair and have already made several fine shows. Watch for this top horse and talented rider in open competition this summer.
Two promising three-year-olds, one a beautiful palomino gelding and the other a fine white gelding, are working well for Mr. Carl Hoppl, Long Island, N. Y. These horses were started late but are rapidly making orogress in their training.
GO BOY’ S LUCKY ' STREAK, or WALK ON BYE
as he is also known, is a magnificent bay stallion owned by Nonie Hawkins. This stud is truly a beautiful animal and has three teriffic gaits to match. He can“ go on” in the running walk and shake his head. He and his owner are ready to meet open competition and they’ ll sweep you off your feet.

Scruggs-Baier Stables
One of the up-and-coming young trainers showing out of Rutherford, Tennessee is a man by the name of Ted Baicr. We saw him in the show ring on many occasions last year and his horses seem to be getting better with every show. To prove this statement, Ted is showing a two-year-old chestnut filly by SUN’ S DELIGHT for Mr. and Mrs. Foster Willett, Jonesboro, Arkansas. Also showing out of the Scruggs-Baier show stable is MACK K’ S MOTION, owned and shown by Dee Bufford of Dyersburg, Tennessee. Dee tied second at Columbia this year with this juvenile mount, following up her 4th place tie at the Celebration last year. Ted says he has a new customer, Mr. W. H. Gaines from Blytheville, Arkansas. He and his daughter Debbie who will be showing a Walking Pony by SHADOW’ S REPLICA. Mr. Gaines also owns the aged stud that Ted has been doing well with, SUN’ S RISING SHINE. Two of his amateurs are ' SUN’ S PLAYBOY, shown by Mr. W. B. Cherry, Henderson, Tennessee and JIMMIE’ S PRIDE, shown by Mr. Edward Bugg, Clinton, Kentucky. Also showing out of this stable is a three-year-old EBONY MASTER PIECE stallion for Tasso Cantrell of Greenville, Tennessee. Ted won several blues last year with this horse and deserves watching when he enters the ring. One of Ted’ s regular customers that has been with him most of the time is Mr. Melvin Dickens of Trimble, Tennessee.
