WEST COAST WALKI PROMOTES " Day for ART CENTER FUND

Pat Boone and Family Friends at Blue Ridge

Various Art Centers are often the subject of " fund raising ” projects as the many patrons of the arts require monty to expand their particular center . A most unique project was recently undertaken on behalf of the Fresno Art Center in California that involved our favorite breed , the Tennessee Walking Horse .
Carolyn Lund , daughter of Mr . and Mrs . Marion B . Edmonds , was recently selected as a queen candidate for the Fresno Art Center , and as a patroness from the Clovis area she developed the idea of having a " fun day for families ” at their Blue Ridge Ranch , now well-known for top Walking Horses on the West Coast .
October 15 was chosen for the event and the highlight of the day ’ s activities was to be the presence of Mr . Pat Boone , well-known television , movie and recording star , and his wife Shirley and their four daughters .
Pat and his family have been friends of the Edmonds ’ for many years . When the crowds began to arrive at the 80-acre Blue Ridge Ranch , it was quite obvious that Mr . Boone would have to share " star ” billing with the Tennessee Walking Horses that have made Blue Ridge famous on the west coast .
Bob Edmonds , a college student and accomplished Amateur Rider , organized the day ’ s activities and , working with trainers Glen Miller and
Red Henson , managed to show the large crowd a sample of what the Tennessee Walker can do . Their undefeated champion mare , SUNBEAM ’ S
