1966-Voice Of The Tennessee Walking Horse 1966 May Voice RS | Page 32

( Continued from page 27)
This year, from GLL, " Bobo” will enter the ring on Riptide, a three-year-old stallion that has already won two blues this season; Rising Sun, a two-year-old palomino stallion; Wild Rose, a three-year-old mare; Wild Turkey, a three-year-old stallion; Merry Sobreta, a black mare; and Hello Dolly, an aged mare that won the Searcy, Arkansas, mare class. " Bobo” also has several amateur and juvenile mounts that will unload from the truck that carries the GLL flag.
Charlie and his very attractive wife, MARTHA GOOD- ALL BOBO, from Lebanon, Tennessee, were married in 1940. They have three children: CHARLES, age 22, is married, recently added a grandchild to the family, and attends David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tennessee.; BILL, age 19, is a freshman at Appalachia State College in Boone, North Carolina; and MARTHA, age 14, attends high school in Collierville.
From the list of horses above, we can see that Charles Bobo has had many successful years in the horse business. When asked what the most important factor was that started him on his way, he said that in 1954, when he judged his first Celebration( the year that White Star was crowned the World’ s Grand Champion), he took his best step in the right direction. From that time, " Bobo” has been known as the ' Dean of Walking Horse Judges.’ When he goes into the ring as a judge, he has no friends and no enemies, for the simple reason that he is judging the horses and not the riders.
