(Continued from page 42) on the reverse, Doug always knew when to "turn him on” to make it spectacular. He was owned at the time by Wolaver and Mr. NELSON GIBSON of Brookhaven, Mississippi. According to knowledgeable Walking Horse enthus iasts, this will be the first time that a World’s Grand Champion has ever been offered at stud in the state of Georgia. As a breeding stallion, Mack K’S Hand shaker should brove to be one of the best. To date he has sired some top horses, including Shaker’s Shocker, the 1965 Reserve Champion Junior Walking Horse. At present, Doug has several other top horses sired by Mack K’s Handshaker, including Handshaker’s Rebel and Handshaker’s Copy. He has a good crop of colts on the ground this year and thus far the 1966 breeding season on Handshaker has been ex cellent despite the fact that he has not been promoted due to the construction of the new Wolaver stables. The new owners of Mack K’s Handshaker extend a cordial welcome to all Walking Horse enthusiasts to see this great horse at the Wolaver stables through July of this year and to make plans to come and see him in his new quarters at Fickling’s Rivoli Farms in Macon, Georgia. Fickling’s Rivoli Farms A new operation in the Walking Horse business, the Fickling Rivoli Farms boasts some of the most beautiful property in middle Georgia. Trainer JIM EDMUNDS is currently looking after the brood mare operation and manager ARTHUR CHILDREE takes care of the property and all facilities. Owner William A. Fickling, well-known Macon real estate and insurance businessman with the firm of Fickling and Walker, turned to the Walking Horse business from registered cattle. He is approaching the program with long-range planning with the stock he now owns, including Handshaker, and has all rea son to feel that success is imminent. Out of the twenty-six-stall training barn, Jim Ed munds is working about ten show horses. This, he points out, will be a part of Fickling Farms, but he will be concentrating primarily on the breeding and brood mare operation. He is now working Gold Coast Express, a sorrel five-year-old stud; Golden Gaiety, a palomino three-year-old mare; a good two-year-old black stud owned by JANE LAND of Atlanta; and a bay Midnight Secret gelding belonging to HAROLENE MURRAY of Waycross. Heading up the band of fifteen select brood mares are several by Midnight Sun and Merry Boy that have been bred to the best stock available. The background of some of the mares reads like a "Who’s Who,” with Wilson’s Allen, Billy Wilson, Roan Allen F-38, Allan F-l, and a host of other Foundation names appearing frequently. ctud was purchased.
