and his trainer just smiled and congratulated the man on the good job he had done. Since he is a big-lick stallion, a lot of people have compared T Bird to Triple Threat. They are alike in many respects. T Bird is an extremely powerful horse with a bold sweeping stride that defies comparison, even among age horses. Few people have ever seen this horse at his best, even in the show ring. Billy says he is saving it until he really needs it, and he may not need it until 1968. But one of these days he’s going to catch 'em all flat-footed. It has been said that success in the Walking Horse business requires a top horse, a good trainer, and an understanding owner. This is the case with Big Shot’s T Bird. Everyone involved will tell you that winning this year, or even next year, is not the prime purpose of training and showing T Bird. Mr. Billy Robinson will tell anyone that "we have a long-range program for this horse and do not intend to wear him out just to win a blue ribbon. He is too good for that and, besides, he still has a lot of growing and maturing to do.” The Robinson family is no different from many oth ers in the Walking Horse business: they love their horses! Whenever Kathy, who is eleven years old now, shows her Juvenile Horse, the Chinese Bandit, the whole family gets excited and thoroughly enjoys it . . . BUT when Big Shot’s T Bird goes into the ring with Billy Brantley up, one would think it was the Kentucky Derby. Whether or not Kathy Robinson will be showing T Bird anytime soon is a remote question. It is true that he was purchased with this in mind, but for the next two years, at least . . . she will just have to be satisfied with her mare. Billy Brantley and Doris and Billy Robinson are satisfied with T Bird just the way he is!
