(Continued from page 44) BILL MOORE STABLES One of the greatest boons to the Walking Horse scene in Texas is the opening of a public training barn by Bill Moore. Bill, no stranger to walking horse people through out the nation started in the business as an amateur served as assistant trainer at J. Glen Turners’, and really came into his own at Joe Wright’s Lone Star Stables, Nacogdoches, Texas. At Lone Star, he provided such show ring threats as Jan Wright on DARK SHADOW SUN’S CELEBRATION, LOTS O’MIDNIGHT MID NIGHT SECURITY, and GO BOY’S BLACK BARON. Now, Bill is prepaied to share his great ability for training horses with the public. Bill Moore Stables is located within the city limits of Liberty, Texas, at the Trinity Valley Exposition grounds. The facilities are excellent for the training of Walking Horses, with 30 plus stalls, good ring, and ample room outdoors. The mailing address is 522 Crockett St., Liberty, Texas. Among the horses Bill is working is a beautiful aged sorrel stallion, SETTING SUN’S FLASH, by world’s champion SETTING SUN out of a MAU GREY Mare. This animal, owned by Roy Rogers of Houston, Texas-, has all the good characteristics of his sire, and is coming on stronger as the summer days lengthen. Another aged stud high on the prospective stake horse list is STOCKTON’S GO BOY owned by Doug Lannon of Houston. This royally bred black horse is bv MERRY GO BOY and out of SUN’S BLACK ANGEL. Mr. Lan non also has a blue roan two-vear-old filly at the stable who is showing a good lick. A young horse causing much comment by those who have seen him is the two-year-old stallion, CELEBRA TION’S REVEL. This black colt with a star has looks and ability rarely seen in a young horse. By SUN’S CELEBRATION (a breeding stallion to watch for — we’ve seen 10 colts which show an excellence achieved by few stallions) and out of MERRY LACE, he is owned by Roy Johnson of Livingston, Texas. The Joe Wright family of Nacodoches have placed three of their best horses with Bill. DARK SHADOW, who needs no introduction, has rested all winter and is back in training better than ever. She’ll hit the ring looking for World Championship No. 7. MISS MIS SISSIPPI is another Wright horse you’ll remember from the Celebration. With Bill aboard, this aged mare who placed tenth in last years mare class, has a lick and big way of going that few stallions can achieve. The other horse in Bill’s charge is MIDNIGHT SECURITY. This horse was unable to compete last year because of an injury. You may have forgotten him, but you 11 not again. Heading the list of juvenile riders at Bill Moore Stables is 'Paula Alford of Liberty. She and her gray gelding, SMITH’S SABRE, will challenge juvenile com petition this season. ^Tm The good amateur roan mare, GEORGIA GLAMOUR GIRL, is again in training with Bill. Owned and shown by Becky Gandy of Ft. Worth, she was high point mare in Georgia for two years. Becky and her WILSON ALLE. horse are the real sports of the walking horse w°r M ■ Bill has several other young horses that started ate, but are coming along in the Bill Moore tradition. 1 his season, win-lose-or draw, you’ll know horses from Bill Moore Stables have been in the show ring. July, 1966 DONALD PASCHAL STABLES The Paschal-Pitts combination has been one of the hardest working and most effective professional training teams around Middle Tennessee for some few years now. A recent visit to their stable, constructed last year, indi cated that this could be one of the most successful years they have ever had. Heading the list of top stock for 1966 will have to be the 1965 World Champion Amateur horse, BOMB’S BALLEY HOO, owned by DeLeese Williamson. “OP Bum” ... as Carlton Pitts calls him, is going strong and should be the contender in this class again this year. Close behind and also a formidable contender is Can dace Williams on her array of top horses. GO BOY’S EBONY ANGEL, a terriffic black mare who defeated her stable-mate in Montgomery last year, will be the most potent threat with Candace up. This little lady has come on this year to show true showring ability and should be a winner in a lot of classes. She is also showing CINDY’S SHADOW, another top black mare. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Williams, of Fayetteville, N.C. and Dr. Sexton of Florence, S.C., parents and grandfather of Can dace, have eight horses currently in training with Donald. GO BOY’S BLACK LABEL, a fine black mare is doing exceptionally well in marc classes and ETERNAL SUN, an aged black stallion, is fast making a name for him self in stake classes. Donald has shown him several times this year winning some top blues. GO BOY’S GLADIA TOR, a four year old black stud is being trained and shown by both Donald and Carlton and is also doing well. This fine family also owns some fine young stock in an EBONY MASTERPIECE fillv that is coming two and a SPIRIT OF MIDNIGHT stud colt that will be ready to work in the fall. CHEVY II, a top three year old by MR. CHEVROLET, is also on the way to top honors for the Williams family. Watch for Candace Williams . . . she has the stock and the ability to “go all the way.” Carlton Pitts made note of a recent transaction by Hall McNabb that involved the purchase of the dam of both EBONY ANGEL and BLACK LABEL and a full sister to these two top horses. The mare is fourteen years old and is one of the greats. There are a lot of top horses in the Paschal Stables including MARK’S GO BOY, an exceptional two year old stallion. This sorrel stud is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Carter of Lynchburg, Virginia, who also owns THE BIG WHEEL, a three year old MACK K stud colt. Roy Deberidge of Gallatin, Tennessee has a good MERRY GO BOY filly that has tied first and second on two times out with Carlton Pitts up. Also in the two year old class is a Black MIDNIGHT SECRET stud colt owned by Mr. Charlie Boscna of Beverly Hills, Calif. Another standout in this age group is a Black MIDNIGHT SUN stud colt owned by Mr. W. J. French of Dandridge, Tennessee. In addition to BOMB’S BALLY HOO, DeLeese Wil liamso n has SHADOW’S FLICA, a fine three year old mare in training. Mr. Hugh Gillen, one of the new direc tors of the Breeders Association, has his BOMB’S SPECU LATOR. a four year old black stud in training and doing well. Mr. Gillen also owns MERRY GOLD SUN, a full brother to BLACK GOLD going strong in the three year old class. This red roan stallion could be one of the best. Mr. Wayne Longmeycr of Knoxville is pleased with his horse, a gelding that is a full brother to SHADOW (Continued on page 54)
