Florida Walking Horse Association Holds Show And Clinic Members of the Florida Walking Horse Association held their first Association sponsored Amateur Show, June 25. at Port Orange Stables, Daytona Beach. The Associ ation was fortunate to be invited to Port Orange Stables. Their facilities are excellent—a picturesque setting, Cele bration size ring, with a lake in the center of the ring, and large cool barn. The local publicity connected with Mr. Gottlob Koenig’s and daughter, Ellen Metzger’s recent pur chase of CHAMPION TRIPLE THREAT attracted many area spectators. W. C. Lewis, an active Association member, and Ken neth Black, trainer for Port Orange Stables, worked hard on local arrangements. Newspaper, radio, and television publicity gave the Show a fine buildup. Florida Walking Horse Association Directors selected Mr. J. B. Smith, Quitman, Georgia, as Judge for this first show. Judge Smith did a masterful job. His tolerance, judgement, and discussion with owners and riders was very helpful. Fillies and Colts in the Halter Class were discussed at the end of the classes. Association members, exhibitors, and interested persons gathered for a short dis cussion after the Show. Judge Smith made advisable com ments. Of special note was his statement that all exhibitors and members obtain a copy of the National Walking Horse Association Rule Book for Shows, and study the Book and know the rules!
