WALKING PONY CHAMPIONSHIP STAKE, 58 " AND UNDER
Ray Beech staged a repeat of his earlier victory by taking the pony championship on his great little pony, Little Bit O’ Trouble. Ray captured the blue with a dazzling display in all three gaits. Two judges tied him first while he placed third with the other. Go Boy’ s Ink Spot with Kenny Hale in the irons did a whale of a | ob and took reserve honors. Kenny and his horse kept continual pressure on the leaders and the issue was in doubt until the end Mike’ s Mighty Man and Pam Reed acquitted themselves well in this class full of great ponies. Pam and her horse were in there pressing all the way and their fine performance was well applauded by the crowd.

Bomb’ s Bally Hoo with D’ Leese Williamson in the saddle again won the championship in this action-packed class. Bally Hoo won last year, and this repeat performance labels this horse as one of the top horses around. Surprising Lyle Cashion, Jr. and The Society Playboy made a real bid for top honors but ended up tying the red ribbon and reserve. Lyle is a newcomer and has certainly done himself proud v / ith his Celebration performances this year. James K. Taylor rode his Moonglow Jr. to the third spot with some excellent passes around the ring. This was one of the finest owner-amateur classes in many years and the crowd was treated to some real fine horses and quality riding.

The Champion of Champions Class! This was it! Eleven great horses came in the gate and tried for the most coveted of all Walking Horse Championships and $ 10,000 in prize money. Doug Wolaver on the veteran Triple Threat had Walking Horse form and was awarded the prize that had eluded him twice before. Triple Threat is truly one of the great horses of all time and tonight he was at his best, thanks to an excellent job of showing by talented Doug Wolaver. Sam Paschal and Johnny Midnight put on a tremendous show of Walking Horse excellence but fell short of a blue-ribbon performance. Go Boy ' s Royal Heir and Steve Hill were in the thick of the contest from start to finish and really put on a flashy exhibition for the record-shattering crowd. This great class served as an excellent climax for one of the greatest of all Celebrations.
