WHAT NOW ? This is the big question of the moment ! What will the future hold for the phenomenal Triple Threat ? Mr . Wright states that they will stand him at stud somewhere , but the details are not known at this writing . It is known that several people are actively trying to purchase part or all of the popular 1965 Celebration winner . It is generally conceded that as a breeding sire Triple Threat should possess an amazing ability to pass on his outstanding attributes to his get . He already has a number of colts on the ground and they all bear the traits of their sire . There are many GOOD horses around ! There are . a few GREAT horses around ! But there is only one TRIPLE THREAT ! And the association of the Joe Wright family and Doug Wolaver made the winning combination !
WOLAVER STABLES UNDER CONSTRUCTION
As a finale to his 1965 Celebration victory on Triple Threat , trainer Doug Wolaver has announced his plans to build a new Walking Horse Training Stable near Pulaski . Now under construction , the new stable will have twenty-four stalls and will have all the necessary facilities for training and caring for top Tennessee Walking Horses .
For years Doug has operated out of the stables on the family farm and needless to say has done an excellent job . His decision to build a new stable comes as welcome news to many Walking Horse enthusiasts who have sought the excellent services of this talented and successful trainer only to find that he was filled up .
The stable is scheduled for completion about the end of November and those who know the Wolavers are eagerly looking forward to the traditional Myron Wolaver Goat Barbecue that will no doubt mark the opening of this new operation .
As has been said before , the status of Triple Threat is not known at this writing but word has it that the new Champion will stand at the new Wolaver Stables . This also is welcome news to many people as this particular horse should be in great demand as a sire . Our best to Doug in his new business venture .

little pony but the winning of this class will undoubtedly take precedence over all others . KENNY HALE and Go Boy ’ s Ink Spot were the reserve winners in this action-packed class . This was indeed a big thrill for Kenny as he tied ninth in this class a year ago on a different pony . Kenny , although young in years , showed a lot of riding savvy as he showed his horse perfectly . Third spot was nailed down by Mike ’ s Mighty Man with pretty little PAM REED doing the riding . Pam is another one of the talented young riders who always competes in these classes and shows
so well . KAY PIERCE and Fair Warning carried off the honors in the Juvenile Championship by beating last year ’ s title holder Dark Shadow and JAN WRIGHT . Dr . J . R . Pierce bought Fair Warning for his daughter Kay last year for S15,000 to enable her to compete with the best around . This grand old horse won the Juvenile crown for DOODLES THOMPSON in 1962 , was 1963 Amatuer World Champion , and took WAL LACE BRANDON to the Mare title in 1964 . Earlier in her great career she won many blue ribbons for C . A . BOBO in the three-year-old and four-year-old mare classes . She has won seven Celebration championships in the last seven years and is surely one of the top mares in Walking Horse history . Last year ’ s champion Dark Shadow with Jan Wright in the saddle almost made it two in a row as this prize couple put on a stirring performance to thrill the crowd . Jan and her horse have combined to win many blues in the past and show no signs of letting up . JUDY TIL- LETT rode The Untouchable to the third place ribbon . Judy hit the gate as a novice this year but her strong showing labels her as one to watch in future shows . She loves to show !
Jan Wright was again in the winner ’ s circle as she won the Equitation title for the third straight time to retire the Mary Ellen and Elizabeth Hampton Challenge Trophy . This graceful young rider has spent many long hours in the saddle and this determination has again paid off . Winning this title three straight times labels Jan the premier Equitation Rider in the land . S . W . BEECH , JR . had a banner week in the halter classes as he captured four first place ribbons , including the Weanling Championship , with his prize colt Ebony ’ s Dream . Mr . Beech has always shown strongly in the halter classes and this year ’ s showing further establishes his domination of these classes . Ebony Masterpiece colts also had a great week in the halter classes for their various owners . This great sire is enhancing his breeding reputation and should continue to produce outstanding colts for a long time to come . The general concensus regarding Beech Stables was that they travel " first class ” and do an excellent job in their field .
The 1965 Celebration was a fitting climax to a record-breaking year for the Tennessee Walking Horse . Never before has the breed been so much in demand both for show purposes and otherwise . The breed is growing and prospering from coast to coast as it is introduced all over the country . People never before familiar with this versatile horse now sing his praises and clamor for his services .
The Celebration reached new peaks in all facets of its operation . This is due to the unselfish devotion and dedication on the part of those who put this annual spectacle together . The VOICE would like to offer its deepest thanks and appreciation to all those connected with the Celebration , and to the patient and helpful people of Shelbyville . We would like to offer our special thanks to the following : Mr . W . C . TUNE , JR .; Mr . P . J . SCUDDER ; Mr . W . L . PARKER ; Mr . E . L . ADAMSON ; Mr . H . C . TILFORD , JR .; Mr . R . M . THOMAS ; and Mr . H . J . THOMPSON for the excellent job they did as members of the Executive Committee of the Celebration .
