ALABAMA WALKING HORSE
ENTHUSIAST WINS COLT
MRS. FANNY LOU KING, ARAB ALABAMA
HAS WINNING TICKET
The First Annual VOICE Colt Give-Away proved to
be a great success from every angle. Searching for
something to add new life to our participation in the
Celebration, the VOICE Publishing Company gave
away a top Mack K stud colt at the show this year.
Registration was held at the VOICE office on the
show grounds from 10:00 AM until show-time every
day, and over 8,000 interested people signed up.
The drawing was held Saturday afternoon after the
last horse had gone through the Beech-Yokley Sale of
Champions and over 2,500 people were on hand to
witness the drawing. A cute little blond (aged seven
years) was selected from the audience to draw the
winning ticket, and when Col PETE YOKLEY called
out the winner one could hear the audible sounds of
disappointment on the part of those present. Mrs.
FANNY LOU KING of Arab, Alabama was not pres
ent. Her name was posted at the VOICE office.
Early in the evening someone came by to check
the name of the winner and said that they knew Mrs.
King, and would call her. Mr. and Mrs. King were
on the show grounds in about two hours and, after
the show, became the proud possessors of one of the
top coming-two-year-old colts around.
In addition to winning the fine stallion, Mrs. King
also w'on a goodly supply of tack furnished by the
Walking Horse Supply Company of Shelbyville, three
months’ free training at the Green & Hugh Stables,
Shelbyville, and a S500.00 insurance policy from the
Jimmy Richardson Livestock Insurance Agency in
Shelbyville.
The staff of the VOICE Publishing Company would
like to thank everyone who participated in this pro
gram. To the ten stables who were invited to provide
a colt we are indeed grateful, and to the Vic Thomp
son Stables, Shelbyville, from whom the colt was pur
chased, we offer a special thanks. Also a big thank
you goes to Mr. GEORGE LEE LENOX and Mr.
CHARLIE BOBO for allowing us to stable our colt
at their barn during the Celebration, and for caring
for him during that week.
We would like to invite each and every one of the
thousands of Celebration visitors who came by to
register for our colt this year to come again next
year. We already have a fine colt to give away at
the 1966 show and we hope that YOU are the winner.
