I I I I A definite increase in interest in Shadow-Piddley bloodlines was indicated by the 2nd Annual Sale of Colts by these two famous sires. Starting the Cele bration week off right, this sale packed them in on Monday, August 30. The entire Geld just east of the big tent was Glled with sellers, buyers and on-lookers, and a capacity crowd was on hand when Auctioneer EDDIE BRYANT called for the first horse around 9 AM. As usual, this sale concentrated on quality, not quantity, and a total of fifty-three select Walking Horses were privileged to travel through the sale for prospective buyers. As could be expected, the bidding got off to a slow start in this first sale as those who "came to buy” were prompted by the auctioneer and his ground men. Mr. JOE OGLESBY, well-known Middle Tennessee horse enthusiast and experience ground man for many sales, said, "If we can just get them started, we wall have a good sale.” Well, this soon took place, and the bidding became more active in a short time. There were many top colts to travel through and a note of optimism was reflected in the number of "no sales” registered. It is a known fact that those people owning top Shadow or Piddley colts value them highly as the reputation and name of these famous sires become more and more prominent. Managers H. C. BAILEY and JACK MONTGOMERY were obviously pleased with the day’s results and the turnout for this first-of-the-week sale of their colts. The Bailey- Montgomery Stables, home of Go Boy’s Shadow and Piddley, will definitely feel the long-term results of this 2nd Annual Sale throughout the year. There are still a good number of outstanding colts for sale by these two sires and if you are looking for a good filly or stud prospect with good blood, contact the Bailey-Montgomery Stables, Shelbyville. They will be glad to assist you in finding a top colt. nd shadow 2 ANNUAL PIDDLEY ' H. C.
