W ITH THE green, rolling hills of West Virginia forming a colorful backdrop, the 14th annual Walking Horse School was conducted by the American Walking Horse Association on May 6th, 7th, and 8th.

Proving to be a real asset, the large indoor arena of the Sterling Farms at Reedsville kept the crowd dry when a heavy thunderstorm came up during the Saturday afternoon session.
Mr. Ruby, owner of the Sterling Farms, did everything possible to make the American Walking Horse Association members feel at home. His exhibitors party on Saturday evening at the Arthurdale Inn was something to write home about.
With Mr. Ruby’ s cooperation the Walking Horse Division was a Class B American Horse Shows Association division. There were eight classes in the show and all were well filled. Fourteen horses answered the call in the Amateur Stake which was won by Mr. Ceburn Lee of Oaks Comers, New York.
Championship Stake class was really a tough one for the judges with everyone riding for the money. Sun ' s Spring Queen owned by E. Carl Hengen of Gainesville, Virginia, took the tricolor.
A new horse brought out at the show had all the smart boys taking a second look. Owned by the Quickee Tree Stables and named Our Citation, this black stud should develop into a

Fishkin and Mr. Alan Stevenson were elected Vice Presidents. Mrs. Priscilla Marble was re-elected to the office of Secretary- Treasurer and Mr. H. Karl Yenser was re-elected Chairman of the Board of Directors.
People attending the School came from a ten-state area, and highlighting this year’ s School was an address by The Honorable Jennings Randolf, United States Senator of West Virginia. The Early Bird Reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Solomon of Morgantown, the exhibition of B. Major Wilson, World Champion Walking Horse, and the excellent facilities of the Sterling Farms, all, combined to rate the school a howling success.
Exhibitors of Walking Horses at this show are to be commended for their observance of the current AHSA rules. All horses shown met the standards set for Walking Horses by the American Horse Shows Association.
