Why a VOICE of the Tennessee Walking Horse? We have asked ourselves this question many times during the past year. We have pon dered our reasons for being and considered the many duties and obligations that we, as the unoffi cial “voice” of the breed, have to our nationwide readership. In reviewing 1964 and how the Tennessee Walking Horse has fared, we have come to the reali zation that this is still a fast-grow ing business and that there are many phases to it. We also have come to the realization that those of us who are vitally interested in the Tennessee. Walking Horse are in hot competition with every other breed in the nation. As a national publication de voted exclusively to this breed, we are eager to point out that, unlike some other publications, we do not regard the Tennessee Walking Horse and its advocates as a “red headed step child” that is tolerated simply because it represents a cer tain amount of guaranteed income. Our coverage of the Walking Horse world in intended to embrace all phases of interest from the Plea- (Continued on Page 35J 3
