by VIRGINIA LAMB
The election of new officers for the NCTWHA here in Sacramento was held in December of 1964. and the election results are as follows: President. Mr. G. H. " Bob” Roberts; Secretary- Treasurer, Miss Wendy Lai; Vice President, Mr. M. B. McCaleb.
Congratulations to each of you, and here is to a very bright 1965 for the Walking Horse, its members, and all future members.
Since the inception of the article Walking Horses West, a good deal of comment has come to my attention on the subject, all good so far. It is interesting to note just how many people, all over the country, react to such a thing by stating in simple words“ I like it.” This is good, in fact it’ s excellent. It brings in more interest, new people, new friends. It helps develop more activity and sales, and to prove my point, here is a little sidelight as to what is going on here in Northern California.
A beautiful black mare, SE CRET ' S LADY LOU by MID NIGHT SECRET, was sold to Miss Wendy Lai, of Sacramento. This young mare shows great promise as a show horse and is now in training at the Leonard Dunn Stables, Sacramento. LADY LIL, a mare of MIDNIGHT SUN and MERRY BOY breeding, was purchased by Mrs. Marian Lilley of Merced, California. An excellent pleasure mare, she is in foal to SHADOW’ S SUPERIOR by GO BOY’ S SHADOW, a fine young
28 stallion owned by Wallace Dunn of Petersburg, Tennessee. Sold to Messrs. Paul Hughes and Donald Shelter of Long Beach, California, CANDY KAY, a started show mare just out from the Wallace Dunn Stables in Tennessee, and REBEL’ S REVERIE L, a 2 year old filly sired by the REBEL J, and starting a fine career as a show mare.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Denison, of Los Angeles and Penryn, California, just bought their first registered Walking Horse, a gelding named ALLEN’ S JUBAL LEE. Let’ s hope this fine pleasure horse will lead the to others. Miss Vicki Self, of North Highlands, California, bought SECRET’ S LADY KAREN, which is now in training at the Leonard Dunn Stables, and SECRET’ S MERRY mare, was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Max North and daughter, Anita, of Placerville, California. Mrs. Deanne Johnson now owns the grand old retired show mare IDA JANE, in foal to MY MERRY BLACK MAN, a stallion owned by Major Ray Moore of Santa Clara, Calif. BLACK DYE, a line-bred GIOVANNI mare, in foal to CHEY ENNE THUNDER, was purchased by Miss Maxine Leitz of Gardena, California.
Recently purchased from the Mc Farland Farms in Kansas were two broodmares in foal to MIDNIGHT SECRET, and 3 young stallions sired by this great stallion. These fine horses will be picked up in the spring when the owners of the L D Stables attend the Murray Farm sale. Now in training here in Sacramento are two fine young
