ON THE MASON-DIXON LINE by Janey Sawyer 6161 S. Dixie Highway Franklin. Ohio This month I would like to dedi cate my column to Mr. ALBERT WRIGHT, JR., of Lexington, Ken tucky. This fine man was one of the most sincere Walking Horse people that I’ve ever met. His presence in the horse world wall be greatly missed. 1 was lucky enough thispastmonth to have the pleasure of visiting the CLAUDE BROWN Stables in More- head, Kentucky, where BOB Mc- QUERRY is now heading the train ing program with the help of assist ant JAY COBB. These two men are doing an excellent job and are turning out some top horses. Head ing their show string is a six-year- old stallion, Triple Lasso. This black horse is by a grandson of Midnight Sun and out of a Merry' Boy mare. Mr. Brown has stated that the horse can do more than any horse he has ever owned. I’d also like to add that he truly is a great horse. He can do three gaits to perfection. Fanny Brown, a good Sundust mare, is in top condition and is getting better every day. Mr. Brown’s two-year- old stallion, Ike’s Exterminator, is coming on Strong and shows prom ise of becoming a truly great horse. Heading the breeding program for this fine stable are Midnight Pleas ure R. G. and Midnight Ike, along with many of the finest brood mares of the breed. Welcome to Mr. TUTT, and his new trainer, new in our area. Mr. Tutt now has a barn in Lexington, Kentucky. We hope to see Master Tutt and Shadow’s Red Ace in the show circuit with us next year. It looks as if Forest View Farm in Union, Kentucky, has started a most promising training program. Trainer BILL CARRINGTON will soon be ready to start work in the new barn. The RALPH LOVETTS of Beacon Hill Farm, Union, Kentucky, have their good pony, Go Boy’s Fury, with BUDDY KIRBY in Athens, Ohio. This pony had the misfortune of breaking his leg, but now he is fully recovered and is coming on strong. Also in training with Buddy is a yearling filly of Beacon Hill Farm. Mr. Lovett’s horse, Tommy Tell, just recently purchased from ELROY MALLARD of Georgetown, Kentucky, is in training with Mr. PAUL "Whitey” WHITEHEAD at The Kibler Farms in Mt. Orab, Ohio. "Whitey” is also working a two- year-old stallion, The Real McCoy, and also a two-year-old filly, Jul’s Love, for them. I have seen the filly work and she looks very prom ising. I would like to express my deep sympathy for the sudden and un timely death of Midnight Sun. I know that this will be a great loss to the Walking Horse world. I hear that HERMAN INGRAM is working some good horses art this time. Sunshine Wilson is an amateur broke gelding whom anyone can ride. Anyone in the market for a good horse like this might take a look at him. Mr. and Mrs. ALEX WARREN of Dayton, Ohio, have their good three-year-old Major Wilson horse with Herman. He is coming along good and will be in top show con dition by the time the gate opens this spring. BERRY COFFEE and MOSE OP- PENHEIMER are jointly sharing a barn in Lawton, Kentucky, and from what I heave heard they are work ing some pretty good horses.
