The sale of a 19-month-old 'greenbroke’ Tennessee Walking Horse stud colt for $6,000 cash on Thursday, March 18 broke all Bedford County price records for a colt of his age and training experience. The transaction was agreed upon Wednesday at 11:30 PM by telephone, and completed Thursday when three checks of $2,000 each were presented to Trainer VIC THOMPSON by BUDDY MOORE and CHARLIE MARTIN, Murfreesboro, and HOIL WALKER, Columbia busi nessman. The colt is named Invasion’s Persuasion, by Go Boy’s Invas ion out of Dogwood Lady. The colt was foaled July 31, 1963, at Dr. PAT HAMM’s farm, Huntsville, Ala bama, and was 20 months old on March 31, 1965. Trainer Thompson describes the colt as 'seal brown’ and says he was placed under saddle Jan uary 15 at his stables on the Unionville Highway. He said he bought the colt in December, 1964 at M. L. Magnusson’s auc tion sale at Milky Way Farms, Pulaski, to which Dr. Hamm con signed it. Thompson says, "I paid $500, and sold half-interest that day to KEN DAUGHTREY of Huntsville for $500. In his six weeks of training at our stable he has looked better than any colt I ever 4 saw as a prospect.” Invasion’s Persuasion was foaled when Dr. Hamm owned Go Boy’s Invasion - bought last year by Thompson for $20,000 - and the stallion is now standing 15 Stables, Inc., located at Stallions across the highway from Thomp son’s Stables. Thompson said the nine-year- 24 old stallion has 87% Merry Boy blood, and won Celebration 30 World’s Championships in his classes as a weanling, a yearling, a two-year-old 50 and a three-year- (Continued on page 31) APRIL, 1965 3
