DEDMON-ROBINSON was particularly pleased with a STABLES colt by their Billy Wilson stud, and the brood mare band. They have the foundation for building one of the finest Walking Horse operations in this part of the country. They have Sun’ s Easter Star, a full sister of Sun’ s Big Shot and Sun’ s Go Boy; a twentyfive-year-old Merry Boy mare named Chiefs Glamour Girl( this World Champion mare has had three colts win the Futurity); Midnight Moon G; and Melody Lane, the mare that MARJORIE GILL showed which is in foal to Shadow’ s Luminaire. All totaled, they have twelve mares in foal to good stallions. It should be a good year for Greenacre Stables.
BULLETIN FROM ILLINOIS
mr. and Mrs. GEORGE O. WELLS of Cicero, Illinois have purchased The Bombardier’ s Son, a beautiful chestnut stallion, from PAUL J. LANINGA, Chicago. The Son is under the expert training of JIM ALT MAN, Walkon Stables, Oak Forest, and will be shown this season throughout the Northern Illinois Circuit by Mrs.( CAROLINE) Wells.
HAMILTON STABLES
From Rome, Georgia comes news that a new stable has been opened by Mr. HOWARD HAM ILTON. They have a 28-stall stable and a full-time trainer in the person of Mr. BILL TITUS. Bill has been in the horse business for over twenty-five years, and spent thirteen years with
New in the horse business, but nonetheless active, is the stable of Mr. and Mrs. GEORGE DED- MON and Mr. ROBINSON of Chatsworth, Georgia. Things have come to a brief halt while trainer ALBERT BYROM rests up a broken leg, but they should be back in full swing shortly. Mr. and Mrs. Dedmon became interested in Walking Horses some two years ago, and last year decided to build a stable of their own. They have a nice twelve-stall barn with a regulation-size outdoor ring and other facilities for training horses. Albert Byrom, who has been in the Walking Horse business for many years, was trainer for Dr. O. H. CHITWOOD in Fort Payne, Alabama before coming to work at Dedmon-Robinson. He has 12 horses in training and should be ready for some of the first shows of the season.
CAMPFIELD STABLES
Trainer E. L. O’ CALLAHAN of Tupelo, Mississippi, reports that all is well with the Campfield Stables of Dr. P. K. THOMAS. They are still aiming at top amateur and juvenile horses, and have seven or eight riders lined up for show ring activity this year. They now have 18 horses in training, including Go Boy’ s Drummer Boy, purchased from JIMMY WADDELL for MIKE THOMAS to show, and an age mare which they bought from SAM PASCHAL in September for twelve-year-old ANN THOM AS to show. Fifteen-year-old
PERRY THOMAS will show Go Boy’ s Party Doll this year.
E. L. has several good twoyear-olds in training, including a Go Boy stud colt owned by T. M. MAGEE of Calhoun City. As usual, we will probably hear a lot from the Campfield Stables in 1965.
CIRCLE 4 HORSE FARM
There is plenty of activity at the Circle 4 Horse Farm of PAUL WEINER and GLENN WHITE in Cedartown, Georgia. Their trainer, HARVEY LEFEVERS, is now working horses full-time. This is Harvey’ s first year as a full-time trainer, and he is doing a good job. He is now working sixteen horses, eight of which are Circle 4 horses. The others are individually owned. They have some two- and three-year-olds that look like great potentials for 1965. One is Society’ s Little Man, a little two-year-old bay stud sired by Society’ s Surprise out of a Midnight mare which is really something to watch. Harvey started riding this colt January 2, and he is already setting up there and walking like an age twoyear-old.
Another one is Society’ s Blue Velvet, a good two-year-old filly sired by Society’ s Surprise which is a great potential; but the one that everyone is talking about is Society’ s Immortal Son, alight chestnut three-year-old stud which stands nearly 16 hands. He is also sired by Society’ s Surprise out of a Midnight Sun mare. He is as fine as they come and is ready for the show ring.
Mrs. PAULINE RENTZ is also spending a lot of time at the Circle 4 Stables these days. She is beginning to ride some of the horses she will be showing this year. One is a three-year-old black mare sired by Society’ s Surprise out of a Midnight mare that she will be showing in the Mare class. And we don’ t want to miss Society’ s Surprise himself, the amateur stallion who made a great record for himself last year. These are only some of the outstanding horses being trained at Circle 4 Stables.
