HEADS UP IN THE

The Central State Fall Roundup in Dayton , Ohio , Oct . 16th through the 18th brought a close to the horse show season in our area . Everyone has put away the new show gear and brought out the old to settle down for a hard winter ’ s work . Horses will be getting fat and sassy through the long winter months and will be starting next year ’ s season with a bang !
Walking horse classes were filled at the Central State Horse Show . The well known and noted Judy Wiser came up for the horse show from Tennessee where she is a student at the University of Tennessee . Mr . Joe Martin of Gallatin , Tenn ., the new trainer for the Escue Stables , showed SHAD­ OW ’ S JET , Miss Wiser ’ s 1961 World Champion pony . Joe won the open class Sunday afternoon and came back to win the stake class Sunday night . Judy and Joe plan to be married in December and are going to be permanent residents of Northern Kentucky . Welcome , Joe and Judy , from all the horse people in our area . We are glad to have you and will be looking forward to seeing you both on the show circuit . Mr . Stan Rothman of Middletown , Ohio won the Amateur class on his spirited stallion , BIG STRIDE ’ S RIFLE .
A lovely party was given at the home of Mr . and Mrs . Donald Sharrett , Dayton , Ohio after the show on Saturday night . Their oldest daughter , Diane and son , Jimmy , were present bringing laughter and entertainment to everyone . The team of brother and sister have done a fine job of showing their Walking horses this season . The two youngest daughters are horse lovers also and will be riding when old enough .
WALKING HORSE WORLD

Mr . Gene Kelly , owner of Kelly Green Acres , Independence , Ky ., a newcomer to the walking horse world , did a fine job of showing this past season with his famed black stallion , THE REPLICA . Mr . Kelly is looking for a good walking pony for his son Pat to show . Have any of you horsemen got any ideas for Mr . Kelly . Mr . and Mrs . Kelly have three sons , the oldest son Tom shows horses also and the youngest son Russ will be a rider too when he gets a little older .
The Escue Stables , owned by Mr . and Mrs . Fray Escue , located on U . S . 25 , one mile South of Florence , Kentucky invites everyone to stop in and visit them . Mr . Escue is bringing his 1963 World Champion SUN ’ S DELIGHT , up for the winter months and Miss Judy Wiser will have her World Champion pony of 1961 , SHADOW ’ S JET , stabled with Mr . Escue . Mr . and Mrs . Escue ’ s sharp young daughter , Nancy , has a beautiful bay mare , MEET MIDNIGHT MERRY , which will be her mount for 1965 . Nancy made the younger set stand up and take notice this past season with her handsome gelding , CHARLIE H . BROWN . The Escue stables also have a number of young horses coming on ; a sorrel stud . GO BOYS RED SAIL ’ S by GO BOY , MIDNIGHT HOOT­ ENANNY , a black stud by MID­ NIGHT SUN , and GO BOYS FAN­ CY NANCY , a black filly by GO BOY . Mr . Escue is also looking forward to his first foal from SUN ’ S DELIGHT in January .
The Calico Farm , located in the beautiful Indian Hill Village of Cincinnati , Ohio has purchased several young horses recently which trainer , Willard Tenpenny will bring out this coming year . Willard is working a two year old chestnut stallion , GO BOYS MER­ RY SECRET , which is one of the best young prospects that is around . GO BOY ’ S RASSLE DAS- SLE , a power packed black stallion that goes like dynamite set off is another one of Calico Farm ’ s fine prospects . Mrs . Jacqueline Kroll , owner of Calico Farm will be showing THE MILLIONAIRE , a black stallion which Willard is getting ready for her this winter

From Florida comes word of the activities of trainer Johnson Mc­ Donald of Orlando . Working a string of show horses belonging to Mr . C . E , Bradshaw , Johnson is looking forward to the brief rest he will get before the Florida Sunshine Circuit gets underway sometime in February . At present he has about forty horses in training and has a string of seventy-five brood mares that are in an intensive breeding program .
Outstanding studs of the C . E . Bradshaw Stables are MIDNIGHT MOONGLOW , GUNSMOKE ( Johnson pointed out that this was the original old GUNSMOKE , a gray stallion ), GO BOY ’ S BLACK RAMBLER and STERLING SIL­ VER . All these horses represent top blood lines and along with a few mares bred to outside studs , should produce another string of excellent colts for the Walking Horse market . Show horses wearing the Bradshaw banner are SHADOW ’ S RO­ VER , a four year old stud that has had a good season this year , RAM­ BLER ’ S ROOSTER , a two year old sorrel stud colt , SUN DUST HO­ NEY , a blue roan two year old filly , RAMBLER ’ S GO GIRL , a black Junior Mare and RAMB­ LER ’ S SUN BANDIT , a two year old colt should give Mr . McDonald a full schedule of daily activity while preparing for the 1965 season .
