A new Walking Horse Association to be known as the United States Amateur Horsemen Association, Inc. is being formed with headquarters in Clayton, Ohio. To properly launch this organization there will be a 4th of July Walking Horse Celebration at the Plantation Country Club grounds on Salem Pike, six miles north of Dayton. The show will include 12 Walking Horse classes for amateurs only. Following the performances, there will be a short business meeting where permanent officers will be elected and all the exhibitors will enjoy a Dutch Treat buffet supper. May 16-17 Greene County Horsemen’ s Association held their annual Lions Club Charity Horse Show. Mr. Ralph Lowe of Bowling Green, Kentucky handled the judges assignment. CANDY JONES ridden by Paul“ Whitey” Whitehead carried off the blue in the mare class for Kibbler Farms. Rita Crane, Zenia, Ohio and rider of SUN’ S RED RIBBON, won the stallion and gelding class. The amateur class winner was Nancy Escue of Covington, Ky. on CHARLIE BROWN. The stake found“ Whitey” Whitehead again taking the blue on CANDY JONES for Kibler Farms of Mt. Orab, Ohio. Rita Crane of Zenia was reserve winner. Herman Ingram of Franklin, Ohio was third for owner Dr. Sawyer aboard RING-A-DING-DING.
2nd in mare class was Janey Sacoyser of Blanchester, Ohio on MAID OF THE HILLS, 3rd was Clark Nichols of Franklin, Ohio with COUNTRY DOLL.
2nd in Stallions & Geldings was WELLS FARGO with Paul“ Whitey” Whitehead for Kibler Farms, Mt. Orab, Ohio; 3rd was Jim Shorret of Dayton aboard HUGHES MIDNIGHT SUN; 4th found Tom Bahl of Mt. Orab, Ohio riding MR. ED.
2nd in amateur was Diane Sherret in the Saddle on DIANE DE LIGHT; 3rd went to Clark Nichols on COUNTRY DOLL; 4th place went to Jim Shorrett on HUGHES MIDNIGHT FHA.
