FEBRUARY, 1964 SUN’S PERFECTION 571372 (Registered name—Midnight Paul) the HI LINE from ihe Deep SOUTH By Billy Joe Ann Esless Box 222, Kenlwood, Louisiana The VOICE takes pleasure in intro ducing a new contributing editor and a new feature column as a part of our campaign to cover the Walking Horse world for ALL of our readers. Mrs. Reid (Billy Joe Ann) Estess, Jr., of Kentwood, Louisiana, has consented to report on the Deep South area, in cluding southern Mississippi, and all of Louisiana. Readers living in that area and having information of general in terest to our readers are urged to send it to Mrs. Estess for her monthly report. A life-long lover of horses, Mrs. Estess began her married life on a happy note by receiving a Tennessee Walking Horse for a wedding present. She and her husband, a feed dealer who also shoes horses as a hobby, and their three children share a great love of the outdoors, and particularly of horses. The oldest, Joda Rouge, will probably begin showing this season. Mrs. Estess has also served her country as a member of the Women’s Marine Corps. Professing a great love of the Ten nessee Walking Horse from its foaling to its mature performances in the show ring, Mrs. Estess is, like all of our other contributors, serving as a skilled re porter only because she, too, wants to see the greatest breed on earth receive the recognition it so well deserves. We very much appreciate Mrs. Estess’ will ingness to join with us in making this magazine a more effective VOICE of the Tennessee Walking Horse. —The Editors. Hi! I am so glad to know you— and I hope to know each and every one of you real soon. I am going to endeavor to bring to you news from way down South, in Louisiana and Mississippi, and I hope to do justice to the Hot Circuit I am to represent. So here goes: From the George Livingstone Stables of Mendenhall, Mississippi, comes news that Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Wolfe will be really strutting their stuff with many good horses. They have a beautiful white mare that has a perfect canter and has gained tremendous speed in that famous gait to match her terrific flat walk. They also own a really good three- year-old gelding and a three-year- old stud that on-lookers say should really bring home the blues this year. Mr. and Mrs. Wolfe have also recently bought for their charming daughter, Debbie, one of the top juvenile horses to be brought to the South. Debbie rides every day and will be giving her friends plenty of competition this Spring. Miss Judy Bullock owns a good looking four-year-old mare.
