and consequently became part of the complete liquidation property of the once influential CIRCLE T STABLES. In the Spring of 1964, TRIPLE THREAT became the property of three relatively newcomers to the Walking Horse business and was moved to the new CLEMENT STABLES in Hickory, North Carolina. The new owners were Mr. C. E. Clement, Mr. W. Clyde Abernathy and Mr. J. B. Sherrill, all of North Carolina.
The 1964 program for breeding and training TRIPLE THREAT was hectic! This number one contender for top honors for 1964 was in the midst of a new stable organization, a new trainer and a complete new program. In an effort to get ready for the Celebration, his owners decided to return him to the man who knew him best— Harold Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy, who was then set up in Lewisburg, Tennessee, took over the horse and started a slow road back to stardom that again ended with the Reserve Championship at Shelbyville.
Having been shown only five times before the“ big show”, the phenomenal TRIPLE THREAT left Shelbyville determined to conquer all in his path. This he has done! Since September, TRIPLE THREAT has defeated the greats of the breed in Mobile, Dallas, Baton Rouge, Raleigh and the Chicago International.
The long range future for TRIP LE THREAT is uncertain. It is definite that he will stand the 1965 season to a few select mares at the new TRIPLE T FARMS, INCOR PORATED in Lewisburg, Tennessee. This new training stable, now under construction, is located on Highway 431 just outside Lewisburg. It will be operated and managed by Trainer Harold Kennedy. The big question is— will the big bay again enter the gate for show ring competition or will he become a“ standard for the breed” as a Stallion? To date, this great horse by the renowned SUN’ S QUAR TERBACK has been bred only a few times. His coming two year old colts indicate an amazing prepotency to pass on his most outstanding attributes to his get. Size, color, stamina, conformation and natural ability are the trade-marks of TRIPLE THREAT and these outstanding qualities represent the future of the breed. As a breeding horse, TRIPLE THREAT will be challenged to the highest to match his incomparable show ring career with results as a sire. If the colts he now has are any indication of his ability to breed the“ champions of the future”... TRIPLE THREAT will remain one of the greatest horses the Tennessee Walking Horse breed has yet produced.
