gate first on a two year old bay filly owned by Kay McCoy of Mobile , Alabama . This fancy colt has been shown six times this year and was the class winner at the Tennessee State Fair Horse Show . Charlie also has a good stud two year old chestnut colt that has been doing very well this year . Clyde Jernigan of Murfreesboro is his owner and is well pleased with his six blue ribbons . Louis Aita , of Franklin , Tennessee , will be going strong in the Amateur class on his four year old Sorrel Stallion and Kenny Hale will aim high on KENNY ’ S SUN BEAM in the Pony Class . MACK K ’ S ROSE , a top flight black pony owned by Mr . H . G . French of Barn Hill , Illinois will be riden by Dan Selover in the Pony Classs . Charlie will also be showing his age mare owned by Jimmy Gray of Augusta , Georgia . This back gal has been shown consistently this year and in twelve shows has placed high among some of the best around . BUDDY MOORE STABLES
Every year we can count on seeing Buddy Moore of Murfreesboro , Tennessee , working with some of the finest colts in the ring at the Celebration . Buddy has been raising top Walking Horses for several years and is obviously proud of his stock . This year he will exhibit several of his best in the show . He has nine yearlings to work with , including six MIDNIGHT SUN colts , five of which will go through the Harlinsdale Sale . SUN ’ S MERRY BOY “ H ”, a good looking stud colt out of an old MERRY BOY mare will first exhibit in the Futurity and then be run through the sale . He has another good Futurity colt named MIDNIGHT DEB ORA that is by “ OL ’ SUN ” and is a full sister to the top filly sold in the sale last year . Buddy will also have SINFULL CINDERELLA , a bay filly by MIDNIGHT SUN out of a MACK K mare and a Roan Futurity stud that is a full brother to SUN ’ S STRUT ALONG . Four weanling colts lined up for the Futuritv should give their sires , EBONY MASTERPIECE and MID NIGHT SUN a boost , as these are reputed to be top colts . There will also be three colts owned by Bob
Smith of Murfreesboro in the Harlinsdale Sale that Buddy Moore will handle . Buddy has a black yearling PIDDLEY filly that he is especially proud of , and he plans to show her in the Futurity and the Open Classes . He is doing well , as usual with his colts and sales are already beginning to build up on some of his better stock . Buddy sold two top Futurity colts last month and sees prospects of several more before the Celebration . MAGNUSSON STABLES
Frank Burnum , trainer for the Magnusson Stables reports that-he will have several good entries in the “ big show ” this year . His Junior Stud , PERFECTION ’ S SHEIK , owned by Mabrun Magnusson and Mrs . Jewell Boyd should make a good show . This horse tied third in the P . T . A . show this year and is reported coming on strong . Frank will ride PINUP ’ S JEWELL , a sorrel Junior mare owned by Boyd and Magnusson in the three year old mare class and Mr . Magnusson will show his DARK JET OF MID NIGHT in the Amateur Class . He has shown him twice this year and feels that he is a good horse . One of the several attractions to be held in and around Shelbyville during Celebration week will be a one day sale of Tennessee Walking Horses at the Magnusson Barn on Monday of the Celebration . The sale will start approximately at ten a . m . and Mr . Magnusson will make an honest effort to move as many of his two hundred fifty ( PLUS ) horses as possible in one day . SAM PASCHAL
Taking it easy for the first time in several years , Sam Paschal of Murfreesboro , Tennessee will have only two horses in the Celebration this year . Having won three of the last seven World Grand Championship Stake Classes at the Celebration , Sam is approaching other honors this year with a fine little two year old stud named SETTING SUN ’ S DELIGHT and a top age mare named GOLD SUN ’ S GOLD EN GIRL . His two year old stud is one of these colts that has rhythm and motion and hits that “ Sam Paschal ” lick in fine fashion for a two year old . This red sorrel is a beautiful colt and should make a showing that his owner , Sam Paschal can be proud of . Dr . Arthur Glover of Madison , West Virginia is the proud owner of GOLD SUN ’ S GOLDEN GIRL and this five year old red sorrel mare can really sit back and get the job done , especially with Sam in the saddle . It is rumored that Sam has been besieged with requests to bring his twin colts to the Celebration grounds so people can see them . Perhaps he will !
THIS AND THAT
In a recent conversation with James Rowland of Murfreesboro , Tennessee , we got the low-down on his horse activities . James has four good brood mares on pasture with four yearling colts and three weanling colts running around . All his stock at the present are MID NIGHT SUN and MERRY GO BOY bred and six will be entered in various classes at the celebration .
SPIRIT OF MIDNIGHT MOVES TO HARLINDALE
Spirit of Midnight , the great walking stallion owned by Mr . and Mrs . Jack DeLay , of Nashville , begins his breeding career at Harlindale Farm , Franklin , Monday .
The noted horse was shown to 55 class and stake blue ribbons , of which 15 were over nine world and world divisional champions . His riders have been Steve Hill , Beech Grove , and Sam Paschal , Murfreesboro .
BAYOUD FARMS ROCKWELL TEXAS
We had an interesting conversation with Dr . and Mrs . George Bayoud of Rockwell , Texas recently and learned that they have a most active Tennessee Walking Horse operation going at their Bayoud Farms located just 20 minutes from downtown Dallas . They have a modern steel stable containing 16 stalls , an office , tack room and other areas for the care of showhorses , all located on a twenty-two acre farm which they bought to further pursue their horse activities .
Most active in the show ring is George , Jr ., nine years old , who rides the well-known LITTLE RED
