September, 1963 Class No. 34 WALKING PONIES, 58" AND UNDER, RIDERS 14 AND UNDER This was a preliminary to the big “Walk­ ing Pony” Championship and each rider was determined to show his best. Ray Beech, riding LITTLE BIT O’ TROUBLE put on a flawless, rail-side performance to win the blue with 3 first place nods. He was pushed right through the workout by SETTING SUN’S LITTLE MAN, ridden by Jerry Jester who made a determined bid for top honors. He received 2nd spot by the judges and 3rd by the referee. Third in the line up of winners was Dick Reese on LITTLE DUDE and fourth was taken by Ann Daugcttc on her SIR HENRY’S MASTERPIECE. HILLS PERFEC­ TION was definitely a “big going gelding” with a crowd-pleasing front end. Here, said many, is a dark horse contender for the big one. Steve received the bid from the No. 2 judge and the referee and No. 2 by the call judge. The second spot went to Jimmy Holloway on HAPPY DAYS AGAIN, a horse that didn’t make a “bobble” the whole way. Donald Paschal, on GO BOY’S BIG MAN showed strong enough to tie third in a hard-fought contest. Forth was COLLEGE BOY, the horse with an edu­ cated beat, with Roy Starkey in the saddle.
