Class No. 11 THREE-YEAR-OLD WALKING MARES
In one of the most closely contested classes of the 1963 Celebration, SUN’ S QUEEN CATHY, owned by former Governor of Tennessee Buford Ellington, Nashville, and General John Sverdrup, St. Louis, Mo. emerged victorious, although both judges and the referee each selected a different marc for first place, this beautiful black mare, capably ridden by Robert Burris, was declared the winner, based on the‘‘ weighted judging” system in use. A very close second was the winner of last year ' s two-year-old filly class, SHADOW’ S DANCER, owned by Chester C. Coon, Oakland. Calif., and ridden by Jimmy Waddell. Third place was awarded to CARROLL ' S CHOICE, owned by Dr. J. D. Bush, Gadsden, Alabama, and ridden by Peck Stone.

Once again proving himself to be a master in the art of making horses, Donald PaschaJl rode to the Championship in the class for two-year-old walking fillies, receiving the first place tie from both judges. His long-striding, head-shaking, bay filly, MID NIGHT PRIDE, is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Hall McNabb, Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Reserve place went to another beautiful bay filly, SUN DUST LACY, owned’ by Solitude Stock Farm, Goodlettsvile, Tenn., and ridden by Floyd King. Although not tied by the call judge, King’ s filly was placed second by both judge No. 2 and the referee. In third place in this fast class was owner— rider Dr. Robert Pegram, Jr., Tupelo, Miss., on his classy MACK K’ S DARLING. Also receiving much attention
