THREE-YEAR-OLD WALKING STALLIONS
The three year old stallions hit the gate
with all the gusto of age horses. All riders
were determined to show these first year
cantering animals for all they were worth.
From the moment they came in, GO BOY’S
BLACK JACK, with Donald Paschall up
and PERFECTION’S CARBON COPY, Joe
Webb up, were in a hot contest for first.
The crowd’s participation was intense but
failed to sway the decision. BLACK JACK
received the first place nod from call judge
and referee and second by No. 2 judge.
Reserve was, of course, CARBON COPY.
Bud Seaton was not far behind with SUN’S
STRUT ALONG and tied third. SHAD

TWO-YEAR-OLD WALKING STALLIONS
Always an exciting class . . . this year it
was no exception. Here, sensed the crowd
are the champions of the future. The
crowd’s pleasure varied and finally agreed
with the judges ... GO BOY’S STARFIRE
with Douglas Wolaver up. He received the
first spot with both judges and second
with the referee. MAGIC SHADOW, rid
den by Jimmy Waddel received enough
point spread to win second while DUTY’S
BEST CHANCE, with George Witt up
placed third. Buddy Hugh, on GUN-
SMOKE’S SUN received the bid for fourth
in this top preliminary for the 2-year-old
Championship. All of these horses, including
some that “got the gate” will bear watching
in 1964.
