30 March, 1963 How, When Can You Change Horse's Name "Is it possible to change a registered Tennessee Walking Horse's name if you don't like it?" asks Miss Gloria Coleman of 412 Grav Street, Edge- field, S. C. The answer is yes but there is an "if” in it. A registered horse's name may be (hanged if he or she does not nave any offspring. However, if the stallion has sired a foal or a dam has foaled a colt—such an animal cannot have its registered name changed. Reason for this is simple—as it is quite necessary that permanent names be kept for horses that have offspring. Otherwise it would be most difficult to maintain a registry. Registration of horses—including all its phases—is maintained by the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeder’s Sk Exhibitor’s Assn, of America, Inc.. at Lewisburg, Tenn. A nominal fee is charged for changing a horse’s name on the registry. o o o Great TWH Interest Is Shown In Oklahoma V. A. Treadway of 320 South ’B’ Street, Muskogee, Okla., reports great Tennessee Walking Horse interest in Oklahoma. He says the librarians tell him they have requests daily for in formation and formerly had only the information given in an encyclopedia. So Reader Treadway has given copies of the “Biography of the Ten nessee Walking Horse” to both the Muskogee Public Library and the Vet erans Hospital Library to solve this problem.
