June, 1963 4 Evansville, Indiana, Channel 7 Stars Walkers In Show Feature Seven Tennessee Walking Horses representing three different staLes with a fourth state represented by two riders, will be ‘’stars ’ of a W I VW Channel / televised Horse Show at Evansville, Ind. on Sunday afternoon—July 28— all because of one man who loves 1 ennessee Walking Horses. The man is Operations Manager Ulysses Carlini of Station WTVW (Chan­ nel 7 in Evansville). Official sponsor of the show will lie the Voice of the Tennessee Walking Horse (at no expense to the Voice). How all this happened is explained in an editorial on Page 3. Horses starring in this show, their riders and owners are: SUN’S DELIGHT, -1-year-old stallion ridden by Trainer Sam Paschal of Murfreesboro, Tenn., for Fray Escue Pontiac Co., Covington, Ky. This horse won the Junior Reserve Championship of the World at the 1962 National Celebration in Shelbyville and is regarded as a major contender for the World’s Grand Champion title in 1963—as reported elsewhere in this issue of the Voice. His rider, Sam Paschal, rode Ebony Masterpiece to the World's Championship in 1962. Sam also won the World’s Grand Championship on Setting Sun in 1958. GO BOY’S BLACK JACK, 3-year-old stallion ridden by Trainer Donald Paschal of Readyville, Tenn., for Capt. and Mrs. E. A. Self of Mobile, Ala. He was Reserve Champion Stallion at the 1962 Celebration when the 2-year-old stallion class of 67 horses was divided, and World’s Two-Year- Old Reserve Champion in die stake by placing second. Capt. Self is a retired U.S. Navy officer (served 20 years) and now maintains a fleet of tug boats. Donald Paschal, younger brother of Sam, has won many world's champ­ ionships on horses 2 years and 3 years of age at the Celebration.
