Professional Opinion
( Continued from Page 1) From Dr. Kenneth McFarland“ Dear Mr. Green. " I want to commend you on your new magazine. I feel it is indeed an asset to the breed.
“ You will probably be both interested and amused by the enclosed ads in the Sunday Kansas City Star of April 8, We have said‘ we should make ourselves easy to buy from.' The people in Lhis ad may be over-doing it with their‘ 3 dollars down and 3 dollars a week plan.’ Cordially, Kenneth McFarland, McFarland Farms, 4401 West Tenth St., Topeka, Kan.”
( Note-Many thanks. Dr. McFarland. You have been the inspiration of a major phase in the magazine— our push to put Pleasure Colts in the Suburban Pleasure Horse Market. We plan to keep that up until something gives. You are a“ Great American” in our eyes. Thanks for the newspaper ads. 1 notice they offer 30 days " free trial " on horses as well as the S3 down rate. Also see Tennessee Walkers not mentioned. BAG)
Beautifully Put Together " Dear Ben: " Please accept my sincere congratulations on the first issue of the Voice of the Tennessee Walking Horse.

State Library and Archives. " Sincerely yours. BILL( William T. Alderson, State Librarian and Archivist— Nashville, Tenn.)”
From Bert And Helen
" Mr. Ben A. Green, Publisher-Editor, also Mrs. Ben A. Green, Secretary. Congratulations. It ' s a practical, pleasing and potent breed publication. Enclosed is check for $ 4.00. Bert and Helen Roush, Hopewell Farms, Rt. I, Manchester, Ohio."
( Note— Helen is a columnist for the National Horseman magazine. One time she devoted half a magazine page to a letter from me telling how I tried to give away a Palomino Tennessee Walking Horse to the 1959 National Commander of the American Legion at the Miami Beach convention. That trip and that stunt have resulted in two prominent Tennessee Walking Horse breeders buying and moving to fine farms in our home Bedford County. Never can tell what can be done when you rent a horse, take him across a slate for a-1-mile Legion Parade and let your hometown Legion Post commander ride him. BAG.)
From Win Pendleton " Dear Ben: Thanks for sending me a sample copy of your new publication. I just wanted to add my congratulations to the hundreds that I know you are receiving. This is a fine piece of work— professional and high class all the way. Sure wish you a lot of luck in putting it over. Sincerely, WIN. Winston K. Pendleton, 2541 Military Road, Arlington 7, Virginia."
( Note: Win Pendleton is a prominent, retired newspaperman, a terrific after-dinner speaker we heard at a Rotary Ladies ' Night supper. He is known in the U. S-A. as a speaker who " lays them in the aisles” with his witticisms and lifts them up with his challenging patriotism. Few come like him. That’ s what we said in a newspaper a few hours after hearing him. BAG.)
