Aug. 9( Postmark) Deadline For Celebration Entries
58 Classes Listed For Great Week-Long Show; Reserved Tickets Sale Under Way
August 9 aL midnight( postmark on letters) will be the deadline( or entries in the 24th Annual Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration at Shelbyville.
That’ s the latest news on the world ' s biggest Tennessee Walking Horse show slated to start Sunday night, Aug. 26 at 8 p. m., following the Saturday night National Futurity. This Futurity with six classes for young horses will be held Saturday night, Aug. 25 at 7:30 p. m. under auspices of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders & Exhibitors’ Assn, of America, Inc.
Celebration officials said entry blanks and premium lists for the week-long show, Aug. 26 through Sept. 1, will be mailed during the first week of July. They will be mailed to all known interested persons— based upon the 1961 entry list, plus any others who have applied for entry forms.
Any potential entrants that have moved from addresses held last year are urged to notify Mrs. J. Ivan Potts, Jr „ the Celebration, Inc., P. O. Box 192. She is office manager for the horse show portion of the Celebration.
Applications for reserved seat tickets should be sent to Ticket Chairman John Castleberry at the same address. Reserved seat tickets went on sale June 11.
Entries of horses cannot be accepted if leuers show postmarks by the Post Office later than midnight Aug. 9.
There will be 58 classes for the Celebration— two more than last year. The two new classes are a Pony Fancy Turnout with ponies 50 inches tall and under, and a Roadster Pony class, 46 inches and under. Both are set for the free Sunday night portion of the show.
