Crulclier At Dr. Cooley’s
Dr. W. L. Cooley of Boaz, Ala.,
“wishes us a lot of luck” with the
new magazine and says Bill Crutcher,
formerly with Wise & Warren Stables
at Lewisburg, Tenn., is operating the
new Cooley stable at Boaz. (Thanks
Dr., Alabama is really a big state in
the Tennessee Walking Horse history.
Soon we hope to get a real good back
ground story about the famous Mc
Curdy family of Walking Horses that
bulked so large in the early history of
the breed in that neighborhood.

Jim Rice To Head South
J. F. (Jim) Rice of Route 4, Bing
hamton, N. Y., surely the oldest Ten
nessee Walking Horse all-round oper
ator, trainer-rider-breeder-seller, etc.,
in existence, tells us he plans a spring
trip South before long because he
needs more Tennessee Walking
Horses. He is a patriarch of the breed
at some SI years of age. He’s a friend
of the horse and also a friend of man,
say those who know him best.
Virginians Interested Also
Mrs. A. C. Clark, Jr., of 511 24th
St., Virginia Beach, Va., says "I am a
native Tennessean and consider it
quite a feat that X have been able to
interest a Virginian (whom I mar
ried) from the horse country here
abouts, in my kind of horses. We see
Tennessee Walking Horses in shows
in this area occasionally but my one
ambition in thai respect is to get my
two Virginians (including daughter,
13) down to the Celebration some
year, that they may see those marvel
ous creatures in grand display.”
(Editor’s Note—Nancy Heffington
(that’s her first name), we will greet
you with a brass band. We have a lot
of mighty good Virginia friends inter
ested in our breed. In fact, had dinner
one time with a score or more of them,
guests of C. C. Turner at Broadway.
Fine folks. BAG.)
