What does the "American Dream" mean to you?

The American Dream, you say? Well old sport, the American Dream is the American ideal that anyone can achieve anything regardless of where they come from. But to me, the only thing worth achieving was Daisy.

You have a rather nice house in West Egg. Why would you need such a big house for just one person to live in?

Ah my house. Yes it is true that I am the only person currently living in my house, old sport, but it serves many purposes. My house serves as a host to many lavish parties that I take pride in. But the real reason I purchased my house is its proximity to Daisy.

Speaking of parties, why did you throw so many and on such a grand scale?

Ah, that is a simple one! The parties I threw were to get Daisy's attention and the hope that she would one day notice me and recognize me.

Why did you take the blame for Daisy when she hit Myrtle

At that point.... I didn't feel as if I had anything left to live for. Daisy had chosen Tom over me and I realized that everything I had done had been for naught. Taking the blame was a final act of sacrifice to show her how much I cared. I had nothing left in my life any way I might as well spend the rest of it in jail if I don't have Daisy.

Why did you take such an interest in Nick?

Nick is a great person and an amazing friend, old sport. But honestly, the real reason I took such an interest in him was the fact that he was Daisy's cousin.
