SHI IS THE CHINESE WORD FOR STONE. Marble is a metamorphic rock composed of many compressed layers over millions of years. The naturally occurring patterns, fissures and tones vary from piece to piece. In particular, the taupe marble contains natural hardened fissures that appear to be cracks but are not. Our marble has a polyester resin laminate coating on the top to reduce staining. The underside is reinforced with a fiberglass mesh for added strength. These markings are natural and unavoidable. Marble thickness may vary slightly. All table leg frames are available in stainless steel. Most frames require simple numbered assembly. Stainless steel can be cleaned with a stainless steel cleaner and a soft, clean cloth.
