WOOD
MU IS THE CHINESE WORD FOR WOOD. We use solid oak timber that is imported from well-managed forests in Europe. The natural wood is only oiled. The grey wood is lightly tinted with a water-based colour and then oiled. We choose to leave the wood as natural as possible allowing the intrinsic grain, knots and splits to show. The raw timber is cut, kiln-dried and prepared at the furniture factory. Narrow boards are laminated together to create wide planks. Most of the assembly of the pieces is through joinery, held together by the wood and glue, without nails, staples or screws. All pieces are assembled and finished by hand.
