Getting around in Slovenia (Rok Molk Turk)

Fifteen years ago the first railroad came to the Slovenian part of the Hapsburg Empire. The event came in an era of modern communication which was important in shaping Slovenian history. Trains are so important at this time, because they have shortened travel time, and most importantly they have enabled fast cargo transportation. The first steam-powered engine, the Austrian StEG locomotive, soon followed.

Well, if you don't like travelling by train or can't afford it, you can always go by carriage, bicycle or you can walk.

Carriages are mostly used for driving around the village. They aren't very comfortable mainly because the roads are so bad.

The bicycle is very popular among the average people, and every home has at least one if not two because it is affordable and practical. People need it to go to the store or to visit friends or relatives. Of course, it isn't comfortable for long distances because bicycles aren't as stirdy as locomotives.
