Cipriano La Gala was born in 1834 in Nola . In 1855, he and his brother Giona were sentenced to 20 years of forced labour for theft and murder . They were sent to the prison of Nisida where they met a man , De Cesare Francesco from Laiano . he argued whit the brothers La Gala, who, frightened, pretended to be his friends . In the meanwhile the revolution of 1860 generated a confusion in prisons and the prisoners took advantage of this situation to escape . In this way the brothers La Gala and De Cesare Francesco got their freedom.
Francesco De Cesare went home to live a normal life. The brothers La Gala joined other brigands and created a gang, which travelled in the entire territories of Naples, Avellino and Benevento.
As regards Benevento they stopped on "Mountain Taburno" in a small shelter belonging to the king. Francesco De Cesare lived there as well, and so the brothers decided to trick him with a trap and killed him.
The gang was forced to escape but the national guard caught them and sentenced them to death.
