The competitors are now on the next leg of the race. As the leader hands his baton to his fellow teammate, he also gives him a water bottle. The lagger continues to to run his heart out. Excuse me ladies and gentlemen, a new ruling has been passed down that everyone needs to be made aware of. Competitors are now allowed to cast off certain articles of clothing if it poses a hindrance to performance. And can you believe it, the man behind the leader immediately casts off his overused shoes and shirt and is running bare foot and bare chest with what seems to be stronger strides! (Brown v. Board of Education).
The leader gives the last handoff to his fellow teammate and, is whispering some information in his ear! The man behind has been holding out in this race for a long time and seems to be itching to catch up. As they approach the home stretch, that piece of advice must have been good because the leader is effortlessly striding the straightaway. That isn’t to say the lagger isn’t making a race of it. He seems to be working twice as hard just to maintain but somehow, he is gaining. And as the finish line approaches the two are neck and neck! Can the original hold out?! Can he hold out?! And as they cross...IT’S A TIE! Ladies and gentlemen, I kid you not, after a horrendous beginning, troublesome and tattered past, the man I thought was only second class has tied the favorite! In 400 years I would not have imagined that man would have had a shot at being on the podium. But he did. Wow, he is so talented (Today).
I don’t care if the chains were tight
I don’t care if the crosses are alight
I don’t care what is their height
I care enough to keep up the fight
I don’t care if I’m poor
I don’t care if I’m rich
I will never succumb to low expectations
Not unless I quit!
