KOREAN Last year saw the beginning of the Korean Society. Exceeding our expectations, we were even nominated for Best New Society at the Stars Awards. This year we intend to surpass the success of last year with even more creative weekly events encompassing all that Korea has to offer. Korea is a country with a rich history, as well as popular culture. Our aim is to bring together those who already have an interest in Korean culture as well as those who simply want to learn about something unique. This society offers the chance to engage in various events from food tasting, film nights and language [email protected] exchanges with our wonderful Korean students. Every week we aim to push our creativity in our events so that we can offer a place for students to take their interest or curiosity to like-minded people while having as much fun as we can. This year, we want to show even more people who are interested in learning about something new, just how wonderful Korea really is through celebrating its extensive culture and national celebrations such as Chuseok. What we can promise is a slightly different society that might spark your interest in something you didn’t even know about, and have a great time doing it. ucckoreansociety uccksoc LABOUR UCC Labour is the UCC branch of the Labour Party and its youth wing Labour Youth. UCC Labour is a socialist organisation committed to the principles of equality, social justice, trade unionism and feminism. The organisation is membership-led with the input of every member valued. All members have the opportunity to further the goals and ideals of UCC Labour and in turn Labour Youth and the Labour Party. UCC Labour is one of the most active political societies in UCC as well as being one of the most active Labour Youth and Labour Party branches. On campus the branch holds weekly branch meetings which gives members the opportunity to discuss the society’s plans and [email protected] 38 direction as well as offering a forum for members to speak on current affairs and events. UCC Labour also participates in UCC’s annual model Dáil and Government Cup. The branch is active nationally also, from a trip to the Houses of the Oireachtas, to Labour Youth National Meetings and events, to Labour Party Conference and policy fora. In the coming year UCC Labour will continue to campaign on important issues of equality and fairness in Irish society. This will manifest itself in an active pro-choice stance and the continued support of workers’ rights and those of the unemployed and underprivileged. We look forward to a great year for the society and all are welcome to play a part in it. ucclabour UCCLabour SOCIETY BIOS
