A hearty welcome to UCC and congratulations on getting into a truly brilliant University! DentSoc are committed to organizing academic, social and sporting events for UCC dental students. We’ re here to help out with the needs of our Dental students and getting the importance of oral health across to the wider community of UCC. Throughout the year we’ ll have a number of events where you’ ll get to know more about the course and make friends in other years and courses too! There are also the Health Sciences Debates where you’ ll get the chance to tackle leading issues with other students
in health-related courses( with brilliant prizes on offer too!). Socially, it’ ll be a jam-packed year with a number of events taking place just before the much anticipated Dental Ball! To get a little competition and camaraderie going, we have sporting events throughout the first and second terms. This includes the first term’ s famous Dental Cup where ladies and gents from each year tackle it out to become crowned Dent Cup soccer champions! DISABILITY ACTIVISM & AWARENESS
Our society aims to raise awareness of disabilities on campus, through passionately campaigning and hosting insightful events for all students in order achieve our goals of making UCC a more welcoming and inclusive campus. DAA hosts many events over the year to bring to the surface that disability doesn’ t define us nor does it limit our potential. We also pride ourselves on fun because what’ s a society without enjoying being a part of it, during 2015 and 2016 DAA brought to UCC campus wheelchair rugby, blind sandwich making and Wheelchair jousting.
This year we want to go bigger and better with the events we host, wackier ideas and to make UCC student’ s experience more inclusive and awesome than ever before. The existing committee welcomes everyone to join our amazing society to make our dream a reality this coming year and to keep pushing the idea of equality, comradery and while the whole time having a fair bit of craic and making lasting friends that will be with you throughout your academic career.
