BIOMEDICAL

The UCC Biomedical Society calls all Biomedical Scientists and other students interested in the biomedical disciplines- haematology and transfusion science, microbiology, clinic biochemistry and histopathology- to join!
We are an up-and-coming society that organises great events throughout the year addressing academic and social issues relating to UCC students, including wonderful academic talks from leading individuals in the Biomedical field, fantastic social meet-ups,
exciting collaborations with other UCC societies, terrific trips to Biomedica( and possibly further afield this coming year), and an annual RAG week“ Rat Race.”
UCC Biomedical Society provides a wonderful opportunity for Biomedical Scientists and all interested in laboratory sciences to make life-long friends, engage actively in UCC life and learn more about the disciplines of Biomedical Science. We hope to see you in the upcoming academic year.

BIS

The BIS Society is one of the largest societies on campus, set up and ran entirely by BIS students. From day one of entering the course students are automatically members. The society organises educational and social events throughout the year for all students. Some of our main events include: BIS Ball – It is held every January. Students use this as the perfect opportunity to show their more sophisticated side. BIS staff and students get the chance to dance the night away in some of Cork’ s finest hotels. BIS Conference- aims to provide students with an insight into the working lives of business and IS professionals. Each year the seminars have a different theme as chosen by representatives.
BIS Cup- is a sporting event organised for BIS staff and students. Soccer matches last 20-30mins and consist of 9 players a side. This event is held every November, it is a great way for staff and students to get to know each other. We look forward to meeting the incoming first years over the coming weeks and welcoming them to university life. Every year a number of first year students join the society, information on how to get involved will follow in the coming weeks.
