LETTER FROM THE EDITOR. . .
Well, here we are at the start of another riding season. We just finished with
the 2014 Wide Open Bike Show and our spirits are high. This year’s show had
the largest attendance we have seen in the last 6 years. We moved to the largest
venue we’ve ever used in Kansas City and brought you over 250 motorcycles
under one roof. Over 180 of those bikes were entrants in our show, along with
another 24-plus entered in the Baddest Bagger in Kansas City contest, another
first for our shows. This contest was sponsored by American Bagger Magazine
and brought in an assortment of custom baggers, both local and from several
states away. Special thanks go out to Tony Frey and all the folks at American Bagger for being a part of our show. We have coverage inside of the Baddest Bagger contest including a feature on the winner. Of course we will bring you full
coverage from the rest of the show as well. We have plenty of winners lists for
you inside with lists from the tattoo contest, the bikini contest, the loudest stereo contest, and last but
not least, the winning entries from the huge field of bikes. We’ve brought you feature articles, our top 3
Best of show winners’ scooters, along with photos of the 1st place winner of every class.
Speaking of bike shows, we also have all the happenings from this year’s edition of the All American Invitational Motorcycle Show, held at the World of Wheels show and of course sponsored by Gail’s
Harley-Davidson. Considering we had the coldest December and January in 30 years, it seems only
fitting we have the hottest bike shows.
Warm weather is just around the corner, and everything seems to be kicking into high gear. We are
making our riding season plans and are going to keep you informed on all the happenings on the Midwest Coast this year. There are weekly bike nights being scheduled for all areas of the region, and we’ll
let you know where to be and when to be there. Our events calendar is going to be loaded with events
for the next several months, so you’d be wise to keep checking it. There are multiple events planned
each and every weekend, so if you miss out on something, it won’t be because we didn’t give you a
heads up.
We are already filling up our schedule with events including the 27th annual Donnie Smith Bike
and Car Show which happens right before this issue comes out. We have St. Joe Harley-Davidson’s
yearly events on our list with their upcoming Swap Meet and their annual Classic Rock and Chrome Rally
on tap along with their monthly Smokin Saturday Tunes days. Turkey Creek Cycles will again hold F
